The International Baccalaureate(IB) Programme at Colonel Gray

The aim of all IB programmes is to develop internationally minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better, more peaceful world.

Welcome to the International Baccalaureate (IB) at Colonel Gray! 

 Please use the site navigation (under the "Home" button) to find answers to frequently asked questions, information about the specifics of the IB at Colonel Gray, information for students considering our school’s preparation programme (CGHS IB preparatory), information about the IB in general, and much more. 

Information about the IB at Colonel Gray:  Any current grade ten student wishing to learn more about the IB Programme is welcome to attend an information session at lunch on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 in room 210. The storm date is the next day, Thursday, March 14.  Feel free to bring your lunch.  All are welcome.  

Parent/Student Information Evening: There will be an information session on the IB Programme for parents and students (currently in grade ten and wishing to be part of the IB programme in grade 11) on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at 7 PM. in the library.  The storm date is the next day, Thursday, March 14.

To be considered for Pre-IB or IB next year, a student must:

a) complete the google application form - link is below 

b) current grade tens must show up for the 'on demand' writing described below 

c) have strong academic results to date and the recommendations of current teachers (you will indicate this on the application form) 

d)  Please register for the 421B courses on My Blueprint if you are entering grade ten and register for the IB courses on My Blueprint if you are entering grade 11. Please note that My Blueprint will open for grade 11 course selection options in early April. 

IMPORTANT NOTE: Colonel Gray’s IB prep classes are intended for those students who are interested in the IBDP in grade 11 and 12.  Do not apply for pre-IB classes if you already know that you will not follow the IB route to graduation.  We ask that you take provincial programming in grade 10 if you aren't seriously considering the IBDP beginning in grade 11.  Please register for the 421B courses on My Blueprint if you are entering grade ten and register for the IB courses on My Blueprint if you are entering grade 11.  I will send an email indicating if you have been accepted to IB prep or IB courses.  If you are not accepted, I will let you know the process in the email later for choosing your provincial courses.  Register for IB or IB prep (421B) for now on My Blueprint.  Email me if you have questions. 

Sample Writing:  If you wish to be considered for the IB programme next year and you are currently in grade ten, please come to write an 'on demand' piece of writing, a requirement for admission, in room 210 after school on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. This happens from 3:15-4:15 pm.  Bring a writing utensil. You will be given a topic to write about when you arrive and you have a maximum of one hour to complete this task. If you cannot make it on the 3rd, the alternate date for the on-demand writing will take place on Thursday, April 4 from 3:15-4:15 in room 210.  Also, to complete the registration process, please complete the google form posted here: 

IB and Pre-IB Application Form

Out of zone students:  Students should apply to the IB school in which they are zoned.  If the student is out of zone, they need to complete an out of zone transfer form. The PSB will determine the status of the transfer and the placement of the student.  Information about the process of applying out of zone and for the transfer request form, consult the following PSB link:

Out of zone students should complete the above application form, email me at ammaccorquodale@edu.pe.ca their course wish list if not already on My Blueprint, and come to write the on-demand writing if they are currently in grade ten.
