Each morning at St Jean we start the day with either the Mindful Minute or the FOCUS Sequence on the announcements.
The Mindful Minute leads students through various breathing techniques and encourages them to connect their sensations with their feelings. There is also a time where the focus is on positive affirmations.
Here are some other ideas for each category:
I Can move... jumping jacks, stomping feet, squats, pencil jumps, frog jumps.
I can hold...chair sit, tree pose, triangle pose, plank pose, boat pose.
I can breathe... belly breathing, balloon breathing, blow out the candles. sunshine breathing.
I can pause...sitting quietly to allow time to quiet my mind, reflect and plan.
