Sunday, January 25th- Literacy week is this week!
Monday- Bookmark contest in classroom (winner is announced on Friday)
Tuesday- PJ Day and bring a book to school day! And Book buddies :)
Wednesday- Dress like a character in a book day!
Thursday + Friday - School wide read alouds
We had a very special guest speaker last week in 2D. Mr. Wilkie, our school custodian, came and taught the kids about the confederation bridge. They were surprised to learn that Mr. Wilkie had worked on the bridge during the four years that it took to be built. He had lots of pictures, interesting facts and answered SO many questions!
We have started our non-fiction cow projects!! The students in 2D are going to be cow experts!
Happy New Year!! I hope everyone had a nice and relaxing holiday. It was so nice to see all the students and to hear all about their break. Last week we did a lot of review and eased back into things:) The students were excited to officially start Book Buddies with Ms. North's grade one class. We will have book buddies every day one. On Friday we enjoyed sledding with out book buddies!
Language Arts:
This month we are learning a lot about non-fiction books and all the different text features in these book. We are also doing a non-fiction unit on Cows. We will be making our own Cow projects and we will be using the different text features that are found in non-fiction books and reading and writing alot about cows.
In math, we will be representing number to 100, and continue working on our mental math facts as we start 2-digit addition and subtraction without regrouping.
Homework will be to read each night for 15-20mins. They have new books in their homework bags.
Literacy Week is coming up on Jan. 27th.
Tuesday Jan. 28th will be PJ day and bring a book to school day.
Wednesday Jan. 29th will be dress like a character in a book day, so students can start thinking about their costumes :)
