CAUTION
Materials containing chloride, such as PVC, should never be laser cut or engraved. These materials release chlorine gas which will damage laser optics and is hazardous to human life. If there's and doubt about the composition of a material, a flame test (also called a Beilstein test) should be done to detect the presence of chloride.
