Much of the areas in pink you see are some of the oldest parts of our Dear Ole CHS. We are looking forward to making a better environment for our students and community with the use of a renovated space in our gymnasium.
Once completed this portion of our gym will look relatively unrecognizable. You'll be sitting in beautiful chair backs. Looking out at new lights, a large scale theatre drape from the ceiling, fresh darker paint, and the gym floor will be pushed further against the opposite wall. The floor will still be used for practice and PE and other uses. However, it's our band, choir, drama, and music theatre department will see a dramatic improvement to their spaces.
The 2x12 benches for bleachers have been used for decades and replaced and kept up. However, it is time for something drastically better. This portion will become chair back theatre seating that will extend several yards past their current place on the gym floor. YES! that means finally boarding up those old smelly basements. See those pictures below.

In the area surrounding our gymnasium is a large band practice room and then several small spaces as you see in these photos. We've done our best to make it useable for our fine arts students.

Originally many alumni will remember a football or baseball locker room, coaches office, and showers in this space. Any water and sewage has been collapsed will need completely redone for Fine Arts dressing rooms.

HS cafeteria bathrooms could use a major upgrade.
This is the entry to get into our HS cafeteria space and our gymnasium. Needing a upgrade. Check out the corners of the entry near the floors.

MIDDLE SCHOOL RENOVATION SPECIFICS
One of the largest findings in an independent assessment of the equity in our athletic facilities was the space and quality of female locker rooms at the middle school. This projects is essential for our female athletes. To see the details of this assessment check out our blogpost.
For our MS girl athletes there are 2 designated locker rooms. Can you imagine 20-30 girls in this space?
Between both of these locker rooms, there is only 1 shower.
Between both of these locker rooms there are only 2 toilets.
The 2nd locker room, has no water, no toilet, no shower. Not too mention fitting 20 teenage girls in this space!
INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL ADDITION
PE, breakfast, lunch, assembly, oh my! This addition will allow a new cafeteria for our students, and help solve the issue of so many things happening at one time in one place. An added bonus here, will be central counseling space on the right side of the image. We currently have almost 200 students and families seeing counselors or receiving resources from outside agencies. In our current buildings, these meetings and sessions happen in the most peculiar places. This addition will allow these to happen in a safe, comfortable, and easily accessible location that will always be available.
INDOOR FACILITY RENOVATION
The same assessment that highlighted our MS girl locker room problem. Also labelled this facility as "poor". Only 2 locations on campus were listed as "poor". With the locker room addition and wrestling practice space expansion, our weight room will be removed from the event center. Just 20 yards away is this facility that will be completely redone to include a all sports all grade weight room and new artificial turf agility and batting area.
EVENT CENTER REMODEL
The assessment of equity in our athletic facilities also highlighted an issue with lack of designated female locker room space. This renovation will add an additional female locker room AND increase the wrestling practice space. It will also include a coaches office. This existing square footage is the current location of our weight room.
