Dan Treharne has been involved in area theatre since 1994 and was part of the cast that led Shelby High Theatre to its first ever North Carolina Theatre Conference State High School Play Festival win in 1997. After graduating in 1998, he attended the University of North Carolina Greensboro, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Education. Serving as director of the Kings Mountain High School Theatre Department from 2003 to 2017, Dan won several Excellence in Directing awards as well as the State High School Play Festival in 2012 and Wells Fargo Best Musical Tier 1 for Little Shop of Horrors at the 2015 Blumey Awards. He has served as an actor, director, president and board member for both Kings Mountain Little Theatre and Greater Shelby Community Theatre. Dan is also a past member of the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Theatre Conference (NCTC). He is the recipient of the 2018 NCTC K-12 Theatre Educator of the Year Award and the 2025 NCTC Herman Middleton Distinguished Service Award. He is excited for the opportunity to lead Shelby High School Theatre in the next act of it's production
