Excerpt from: The Cannibal Script
BLACK. THE HARD SOUND OF KNOCKING.
EXT. FRONT DOOR. NIGHT
A front door with halloween decorations and the hand knocking on a red door. Door opens.
DEANGELO
You made it right on time. I was just about to tell everyone a scary story.
TYSON
A scary story? What are you guys, five years old?
INT. LIVING ROOM. NIGHT
Friends sitting around in a circle on the floor in a dark living room with only one flashlight to light them up. This is Jermaine and Matthew. DeAngelo and Tyson head over to sit down with them.
TYSON
Hey, Matthew your fly's down.
SLAP - Tyson slaps Matthew in the face to mess with him.
MATTHEW
(looking down)
Ow, that’s not even how the joke works idiot, that just hurts.
TYSON
(chuckling)
Still funny.
JERMAINE
(speaking over Matthew and Tyson)
Am I the only one that doesn’t wanna hear about this story?
DEANGELO
Don’t worry, it’s not like it’s true.
JERMAINE
(long pause)
mhm
MATTHEW
Come on, I wanna hear the story already.
DEANGELO
(sitting down)
OK OK - So one night a girl named Annabelle and four of her friends decided to go explore the Cannibal House ...
TYSON
You mean the one that nobody has touched since the last family lived there disappeared?
JERMAINE
What, disappeared?
TYSON
Yeah, apparently they just...vanished.
No one knows what happened to them. Everything they owned was just left behind.
MATTHEW
Woah... wait, why is it called the Cannibal House?
DEANGELO
So, the same night Annabelle and her friends went exploring, there were reports of gut wrenching screams coming from the house. When the cops eventually arrived they found Annabelle fully covered in blood staring off into darkness. After asking her what happened she told them that a tall skinny creature devoured her friends, leaving no trace of them behind.
MATTHEW
(sarcastically)
Ooo ...
TYSON
Shut up.
JERMAINE
Really, there were no bodies?
DEANGELO
No, the cops ended up finding the bodies piled up under the basement.
MATTHEW
So then what happened to Annabelle?
DEANGELO
She went to prison for killing her friends.
TYSON
Why did she kill her friends though?
DEANGELO
No one knows.
Everyone has a shocked look on their face.
MATTHEW
Can we go?
JERMAINE
(sarcastically laughs)
Haha, funny.
TYSON
Yeah, let’s go. It'll be fun, we can grab Nick’s Sandwiches on the way too.
JERMAINE
Did y’all not hear what DeAngelo just said? He just said four people died there and you’re saying, “it’ll be fun.” Y’all are crazy.
DEANGELO
Alright, let's take a vote. All in favor of exploring the Cannibal House.
Everyone raising their hands except for Jermaine.
JERMAINE
Ah, shit.
