Dating a rich man is an experience in of itself. He takes you to Michelin-star restaurants for dates, spends thousands of dollars to make you look good, and may be cheating on you with other women. Me and Jesse are different, though. Two of the three definitely apply, but I know that he doesn’t cheat because we trust each other. We have full access to each other’s phones, and we even go on small dates. One of those is stargazing.
Outside of our vacation home, we have acres of hills we can lay a blanket on and identify the stars. We find the Big Dipper, and use Dubhe and Merak to find Polaris. Using the Big Dipper’s handle, we take an arc to Arcturus to find Boötes, and in between the two Dippers is Draco.
“The stars are beautiful,” I state.
“Not as beautiful as you, my dear,” Jesse replies. “Your eyes shine brighter than Arcturus in my heart.”
“Oh Jesse, will you buy me Arcturus?”
“Kayla, I’ll buy the entire night sky for you. We can travel to the moon and back, and loop around Arcturus.”
I blush. Obviously, Arcturus is very far away, about 36 light years, but I know he’ll go to great lengths to please me.
He’s my Arcturus.
