We have some BIG news for students attending the Next Step Education College & Career Fair!

Through a special partnership between the Steve & Marjorie Harvey Foundation, Next Step Education Foundation, and Block, 100 students will be selected to receive a FREE LAPTOP at this year's College & Career Fair!

We know that access to technology is about much more than owning a computer. A laptop can help a student complete college applications, apply for scholarships, complete the FAFSA, research colleges and careers, keep up with coursework, develop new skills, pursue entrepreneurial ideas, and prepare for life after graduation.

That's why we're putting 100 laptops into the hands of 100 students who are ready to take their next step.

Who Can Apply?

The Laptop Giveaway is open to:

• High School Juniors

• High School Seniors

• College Students

To be considered, students must:

• Complete the Laptop Giveaway Student Application by Thursday, September 10, 2026 at 5:00 PM

• Meet all application requirements

• Attend the Next Step Education College & Career Fair in person on Saturday, September 12, 2026

• Be present at the fair to receive the laptop if selected

100 Laptops. 100 Opportunities. One Stronger Future.

1.   Complete the online Georgia Student Finance Application (GSFAPP) 

a. The GSFAPP is how students apply for HOPE Scholarship or Grant, Zell Miller Scholarship or Grant, and (if attending an eligible private college) the Tuition Equalization Grant.

b. The GSFAPP can be completed in 3-5 minutes and is good for 10 years. GSFAPP does not require tax information or parent/guardian signature(s).

2.  Students can check their current HOPE/Zell Miller Scholarship GPA Calculation in their GAfutures Dashboard through the My High School HOPE GPA tab.

3.  Selective Service Reminder – Males aged 18-26 must register for Selective Service to receive state financial aid, including HOPE and Zell Miller Scholarship and Grant. Students can register 30 days prior to turning 18.

4.  Complete 2026-27 FAFSA – Check out the information in GAfutures to get started

*Students must have a GAfutures Student account to access the GSFAPP and their High School HOPE GPA. Their profile must include their correct name, high school name, address, date of birth, and social security number.

 Each year, the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program honors some of our nation’s most exceptional high school seniors who shine through academic achievement, artistic talent, and career and technical excellence. Established by executive order in 1964, the program has grown to recognize up to 161 students annually, celebrating those whose accomplishments reflect the highest ideals of scholarship, creativity, and leadership.   The 2027 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program application window will open from September 1 to November 1. High school seniors may apply, provided they meet all program qualifications outlined by the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. The application, program criteria, and informational brochures are on the Excellence Recognitions PSP webpage at http://www.gadoe.org/USPS.
