August 1 marked the opening of our first-year application. Students can access our application exclusively on the CommonApp

Mississippi State University provides career prep pathways filled with hands-on learning and meaningful connections in the heart of the SEC! We've outlined our 2027-2028 scholarship information for out-of-state residents below, as well as options for visiting campus this fall. We hope you'll encourage your seniors to visit us and apply soon if they haven't already. Thank you for all you do to guide your students during this exciting time in their lives!

2027-2028 Scholarships

Annual Freshman Academic Scholarships

Mississippi State automatically awards certain scholarships upon MSU admission based on 9th-11th grade high school GPA and/or test scores. Find details and award amounts for out-of-state residents on our Out-of-State Freshman Scholarship page. 

Competitive Scholarships

Students may apply for additional scholarships, such as departmental or private scholarships, through the General Scholarship Application (GSA), which opens October 1, 2026, for admitted students. For maximum consideration of these additional scholarships, students should submit the GSA by December 1, 2026.

Fall Preview Days

At these one-day events in October and November, students and families will learn about MSU's innovative academic programs and hands-on experiences, explore our friendly campus, tour residence halls, and more! Registration is $10 per person. Both Fall Preview dates in November will feature an opportunity to join us for a Fraternity & Sorority Life Social. These socials are an additional $15 per person and will take place the Sunday night before Preview Day from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. CT.

Preview Days are not designed for schools to bring a group of students. If your high school is interested in visiting MSU as a group, please contact our Campus Visit office at (662) 325-0539.

Scholars Recognition Days

These exclusive, invitation-only events are for academically talented students and their families. Students will meet faculty and current students, tour campus, enjoy a catered lunch, and learn about the Shackouls Honors College. Seniors who have a 30+ ACT score (or SAT equivalent) will receive an invitation to attend Scholars Recognition Day. We must have an official score on file.

Traditional Campus Visit

If Fall Preview Day or Scholars Recognition Day dates won't work for your students, they can schedule a campus visit instead.

Next Steps

Students can apply to Mississippi State at apply.msstate.edu or through the Common App. Here is a link to our freshman admissions process. Once we have a complete application file, we can usually send an admissions decision within about two weeks. You may upload transcripts through slate.org once verified as a school counselor by Slate, or submit them electronically via email to admit@msstate.edu. Let us know if you have any questions about MSU's scholarships or admissions process.

KSU Kennesaw State University

NEW ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

First-year students applying to Kennesaw State University for Fall 2027 and beyond will be required to meet a minimum high school recalculated GPA of 3.0 and submit official SAT, ACT, or CLT scores as part of the admission process. We encourage students to visit the First-year Applicant Timeline to learn more about deadlines and important dates.
