1/4 – Birthday of Louis Braille (People with Disabilities): French educator Louis Braille created a system of reading and writing for those who are visually impaired. His system, known worldwide as “braille,” remains largely unchanged today

1/17 – Martin Luther King Jr. Day Because we are centered in the heart of the Civil Rights Movement, it is important for our scholars to understand the important role that Dr Martin Luther King Jr made to all of humanity

Black History Month

2/1 – Chinese New Year

FPHS' ASA Club delights the building each year with celebratory decorations and program inviting all to participate in the celebration of the new year.

2/11 – Birthday of Tammy Baldwin (LGBTQ+): first openly LGBT woman elected to both the House of Representatives and the Senate

2/14 – Birthday of Frederick Douglass well-known American social reformer and abolitionist, Douglass escaped slavery and became a prominent activist during the Civil War

2/15 – Nirvana Day (Buddhist): also known as Parinirvana, this annual festival remembers the death of the Buddha after he reached Nirvana

2/15 – Birthday of Susan B. Anthony (Women): one of the most visible leaders of the women’s suffrage movement.

Women’s History Month

The contribution of Women to our society can never be highlighted enough! It is important that our young female identified scholars see themselves in the development of academic and community greatness.

Did you know that 1% of the world's population are on the autism spectrum? It is important to understand the concerns and the abilities of those with autism so we can be aware of how to be of service.
