To introduce our new kits, students had to build a duck using only 6 blocks. We had some very creative ideas!
We were given new MakerSpace materials thanks to donations from Donors Choose!
NASA hosted a special STEM day for schools to speak with professionals. We had three of our questions answered by NASA scientists!
Third, fourth, and fifth graders worked to create their own Greenhouse prototypes that could be used to help them survive on a deserted island. Students practiced using the Engineering Design Process to ask the question, imagine a solution, create individual and group plans, build a prototype, test weekly to see if their plants grew successfully, and make improvements to ensure growth.
Students learned about alternative energy sources and the ways in which vehicles are changing to incorporate these programs. As a challenge, students had to work as a group to create a vehicle using the materials provided that would move by the force of a balloon.
Students begin the Design Process by drawing out their own plans for vehicles.
Students test and tinker with materials to learn how to use them most effectively.
Students take note of what is and isn't working while they build and make adjustments as needed.
Kindergarten through second grade built letters that had to stand on their own.
Third through Fifth graders built straw houses to withstand a puff of wind from the Big Bad Wolf.

Students grades Kindergarten through Fifth grade are participating in the observation, harvest, and conservation of our hydroponic plant towers.
We are learning about the vegetables that we are growing, and using them to create recipes.

Students enjoyed seeing the Hydroponic Towers grow over the last few months of school.
3rd and 4th grade volunteers helped harvest some of the front office tower.
Just two of the many trays of Bibb and Gourmet Lettuce harvested from our towers.
