We want you to have more say in the plays and events we stage and we want you to be involved even when you’re not rehearsing for a play.
The Theatre Committee is the main way that we make decisions - so the five members of the committee have a very important part to play in developing the strength of drama at Clayesmore.
The Artistic Director chairs the committee and is involved in all the work of the committee.
He or she takes a lead in selecting the productions to be staged during his or her year in the role. There is also a role in encouraging pitches for the following year.
In addition to selecting the three major productions and the studio productions, he or she also plays an active role in selecting other events or one-off productions to stage.
A key part of the job is to make sure that we continue to stage performances in a wide range of styles and genres.
Artistic Director 2019-2020
The treasurer plays a key role in deciding how much of the budget is allocated to each production. He or she also leads the committee in making decisions about how we spend the money which is not allocated to productions. This includes the purchase of technical equipment, running of social events etc.
A key part of the job will be to make sure that we stay within our budget each year.
Treasurer 2019-2020
It is no longer compulsory for all pupils to attend all school plays. In that light, it is much more important to publicise our productions so that we generate interest and, therefore, an audience. The Head of Publicity works with the publicity teams within each production company to ensure that every show is publicised imaginatively and enthusiastically.
He or she also plays a key role in publicising the other events that we run, such as the theatre trips, social events etc.
Head of Publicity 2018-2019
We want to find ways of keeping people involved in the theatre and feeling that they belong to it, even when they are not taking part in a production. The job of the Social Secretary is to design and help to organise a series of fun social events, running throughout the year that help to achieve that aim. Basically . . . planning PARTIES!
This also includes social events in our theatre, theatre trips to other productions, digital theatre nights and whatever else you can think of!
Social Secretary 2019-2020
The Production Manager takes an overview of all the production elements (design, technical and stage management) for the productions in that year. He or she ensures that we have full technical and stage management teams for each production and will work with those teams to make sure that all the technical requirements are met.
He or she also has a role in ensuring that the theatre is suitably equipped in terms of technical and design materials and will pitch to purchase new equipment to develop our facilities.
Production Manager 2019-2020
This year, the elections take place on Monday 13 May 2024.
Candidates can either deliver their short pitch in person or they can pre-record a short video to be played on the projector at this time.
Candidates videos will be submitted by 9am on Saturday 11 May
Any Clayesmore student can vote.
Anyone in Years 9-12 can stand! Unlike most other student-held positions in the school, this is not only for 6th Formers. We welcome all years!
EITHER prepare a short pitch (no more than two minutes) which is delivered in person OR pre-record a short video (no more than two minutes) which will be played on the projector at this time.
Your pitch must explain why YOU are right person for the job.
In your pitch you should:
Explain which role or roles you wish to be considered for. You can apply for up to TWO positions.
Explain what you would do if you get elected - specific ideas are a good idea (but don't over promise!)
Explain what qualities you have which will make you the right person for the job.
If you are submitting a video, upload it to your school Google Drive and share it with Mr Wansey.
Members will vote (using a Google form) for their preferred candidates.
