Whether you want to write something or put on a published, scripted piece, Clayesmore Theatre is keen to help you realise your dream of making theatre or film!
In the last few years Clayesmore Theatre has produced LOADS of student-written and directed productions including:
'The Cake', 'The Conference', 'The Arrow & The Cross', 'The Truce', 'Trapped', 'The Cat Among the Pigeons' and 'Freeman'. These are just a few examples! There are many more!
ANY student, from ANY year can put on a play. But it doesn't just happen! You will need to pitch your idea to the Theatre Committee and complete a Production Proposal. It is a really professional process.
This year, we are making it REALLY simple.
If you are interested in producing a play or a film this academic year, you need to send us a short video (between 1-2 mins long) explaining:
What you want to make (a play, a film, a dance piece, a puppet show etc)
What is it about?
Have you written it? Are you in the process of writing it? Is it a published play?
How many actors and crew do you envisage needing?
And crucially why should the theatre committee 'green-light' your project? What makes it unique?
You must have sent your video to Mr Wansey either as a Google Drive file or handed it to him on a USB stick by this date.
The committee will then review your video and will let you know whether your pitch has been successful by this date.
You are very welcome to get started on the Production Proposal before the above date, submitting it along with your video. It may help you formulate your ideas. It's up to you.
