Elementary A/B Track
Middle School L-Z
Dear TCA Families,
I wanted to share some bittersweet news—my family and I are moving out of state, and my last day at The Classical Academy will be January 31st. It has been an absolute privilege to support your students, and I will miss them dearly!
While goodbyes are always difficult, I want to assure you that your students will continue to be in excellent hands. Miss Viviana will be assuming responsibility for all A, B, and C track students. She is incredibly skilled and deeply committed to the well-being of our students, and I know she will continue to provide them with the guidance and support they need.
If you have any questions or if I can support your student in any way before my departure, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your child’s journey—it has meant the world to me! Truly!
Take care,
Mrs. G

Enrollment Information for 8th Graders!
Attention current 8th-grade students:
To learn more about our award winning high school programs and enrollment, please see the email communication from our high school principals here.
We will be hosting an opportunity for students to take the Preliminary SAT 8/9 (PSAT 8/9).
The College Board now offers the PSAT 8/9 to eighth graders as the first hurdle in the group of tests. PSAT 8/9 is the first exam in the College Board's "SAT Suite of Assessments". The purpose of the PSAT 8/9 is to establish a starting point in terms of college and career readiness as students transition to high school. It's a way for students to practice for the SAT in high school.

A Free Workshop
Attention 8th graders!
We are looking for one student to represent our 2025 8th grade C track class by giving a speech at 8th grade promotion. This speech should be about what life was like on C track, some fond relatable memories, and an encouragement to your classmates moving on to high school. School staff will choose the winning speech. Please note that if your speech is selected, you will be presenting the speech in front of Bear Valley and CAMS 8th graders along with their families, so it must be rehearsed until you are comfortable delivering it in front of a large group.

Here are some important reminders regarding our sickness policy:
Students who appear ill (ie. fever, stomach aches, diarrhea, stomach pains, vomiting) should not be sent to school.
If your student is sick, please email your teacher/ES (you do not need to call the front office).
A student must be fever free without the use of fever-reducing medicine (i.e. acetaminophen, ibuprofen, aspirin, naproxen) for 24 hours before returning to school.
Parents: You may not send students to school with medication (including over the counter medication).
ALL medications must be kept in the front office. Medication may not be kept in a student's backpack, lunch bag or on their person. Exceptions may be made if a licensed health care provider certifies that the student’s well being would be jeopardized unless the medication is carried on his/her person, the student has demonstrated competency in self-administering the medication, and a parent confirms the same.
Click Here to print the required medication form to get authorization to keep medication in the front office.
Questions? Email Stephanie Pillsbury spillsbury@classicalacademy.com
Please review our school's Cell Phone and Smartwatch Policy. Highlights from the policy are written below. To see the full policy and all details, CLICK HERE for the Parent and Student Handbook on pages 30-31.
Students may have personal cell phones on campus but they must be turned off or silenced and placed in their backpacks while on school grounds (including break, lunch, and after school activities).
If a student needs to contact a parent or guardian for any reason during the school day, they may use the front office phone or they may use their cell phone in the front office with permission. If a parent needs to contact a student, they should contact the front office, not the student’s personal cell phone.
Students may use their cell phone after dismissal time, when the school day has concluded.
SmartWatches
The Classical Academies recognizes that students may wear or carry smartwatches or other devices for health and/or safety reasons such as emergency communication or location tracking. During the school day, students are not permitted to use their smartwatch for calling, messaging, texting, surfing the internet, social media, or taking photos except in the case of a real emergency or with permission from the teacher.
The device is to be set on silent mode during the school day so that there will not be disruptions to the classroom. If a student uses a smart watch for anything besides checking the time, the device may be confiscated until the end of the day.
Parents can help the school enforce this policy by not texting their children or calling them during the day. If a parent needs to contact their child they should phone the school office and the message will be relayed promptly.

Independent Study Compliance
Due to legislative requirements, the school must offer optional synchronous sessions for all students, and must notify families when students do not attend. Your student's teacher will communicate with you regarding the scheduling for these sessions. Teachers are required to notify you if participation rates fall below the following percentages:
TK-3 students will be notified if they participate in less than 50% of the daily scheduled times.
4-12 students will be notified if they participate in less than 50% of the once a week scheduled times.
We recognize these state added layers of requirements may not necessarily benefit everyone. Despite the required notification, you have the option to not participate. There is no negative impact for the student if they do not attend these optional synchronous sessions. They are not part of our Master Agreement and can not impact enrollment or grades.
Starting Friday, August 30, 2024 and each subsequent Friday, you will receive an email if your student’s participation rate falls below these triggers. There is nothing you need to do with the email as this is a compliance piece for us to prove that we notified you.
Thank you for your understanding as we comply with the state’s requirements.
Want to purchase some TCA apparel? Click HERE to check out our online store.
ATTENTION PARENTS:
When you want to come onto campus for the first time (during school hours) please bring your driver's license with you to the front office so we can scan it into our system and print you a visitor's badge.
After it is scanned once it will not need to be done again as your information will be saved in the system. Thank you!
While we love all of your furry friends, please know that dogs are NOT allowed on campus (unless it is a service animal).
Do you want help teaching history?
A/B and C track students in grades 1st through 6th can take an alternate TCA history course created by Mrs. Broyles. The course is designed to support families teaching history with video lessons, read-alouds, fun differentiated assignments, optional fun crafts, and videos for extension. It aligns the learning across grade levels with differentiated assignments so families can learn history together.
The class is called TCA History with Mrs. Broyles. Use this access code: Q93G-PFPT-9CJFP to add it to your student's Schoology dashboard.
