The Building a Strong Foundation course is designed to help educators new to LPS learn about the district’s programming, curriculum, and instructional materials. This course provides an opportunity to explore the curriculum, educators will plan and teach while engaging in professional learning sessions tailored to their specific role. These sessions are led by district leaders who will support staff throughout their first year in LPS.
This course is required within the first year of employment for all certificated employees who are new to LPS or returning after an absence of up to three years if the course has not already been taken. It is also available to current staff members who are transitioning to a new grade level or position.
Since this is a requirement in reaching permanent status, attendance is required. Staff who are not in attendance for any reason will need to work with their session facilitator to make up missed content.
