Students will be introduced to the topic of Islam and its growth from 630 ce -1250 ce. This overview focuses on the beginnings of Islam, which includes maps of the region, Muhammad’s teachings, and the expansion of Islam throughout the Islamic Empire. It does not discuss the fundamentals of the religion.
Students will use images, readings and a graphic organizer to describe the achievements during the Islamic Golden Age. This unit is designed to be done as a collaborative effort and trying to problem solve.
Finally, students will work in designated groups to research a specific religion, including Buddhism, Christianity, Confucianism, Daoism, Hinduism, Islam, and Judaism to ensure that students are shown all the differences in religion so they can reflect and analyze each in an appropriate manner.
