Today’s global economy would not be possible without the development of the regional trade networks throughout the Middle East, especially Egypt, on the Nile River. Much of what the ancient Egyptians created thousands of years ago are still being used today. Hieroglyphs can be compared to modern day text messaging (emoji’s). In addition, many of the buildings/tombs that ancient Egyptians built are still around. Through the following lessons/activities, students will explore how trade on the Nile impacted ancient Egypt, how architecture is appreciated for thousands of years, and the people behind one of the greatest empires of world history.
