A: Our tournaments do not give NIETOC Bids. You can apply to the NIETOC using the at large system with more instructions found on their website HERE.
For the UKTOC none of our tournaments are bid tournaments in Debate Events, however we are bid tournaments in Individual Events. We will not send bids to the UKTOC unless requested and we will not accept filler entries in Individual Events.
A: No, our tournaments are open to all grade levels! We are open to all levels of competition. To foster competition, we will have all divisions compete together, but on the Entry Form you can denote what level of competition your competitors are so then if entry numbers warrant, we can hold elimination/final rounds of junior varsity or novice competition.
Eligibility requirements are simply that the student does not have a high school diploma or any equivalent and is not past the age of 20. All states are welcome.
A: This is likely because your students/competitors have not filled out the Entry Form yet. After they are registered on Tabroom and the Entry Form is filled out, they should be allowed off of the waitlist. If they aren't please let us know. Also, don't forget to have your judges fill out the Judge Sign Up Form and pay for entries!
A: Yes! While we would prefer for you to enter with your school, we do accept independent entries. Depending on tournament numbers you MAY not be required to bring a judge, however you will be required to pay entry fees. To enter as an independent, simply put "Independent Entry" on your entry form and before registration closes, email a receipt of your paid fines to the tournament director. If the tournament is asynchronous, you also need to send in a recording of your speech.
A: Yes! We would love your legislation to be submitted for consideration! How it works: email your legislation to the tournament director. Each piece of legislation accepted for debate will be a credit, five dollars ($5), applied to your school's participation in the next Lighthouse Forensics Tournament you attend. This credit is available to cover any fines, it isn't solely for entry fees or even Congressional Debate, it goes to your school, or if you are an independent entry, then to you as an individual. On Tabroom there are templates to help guide your legislation writing.
First, points are only awarded at tournaments that have elimination rounds, excluding 4n6 Series Tournaments.
Second, there shall be recognition of the top five placing teams overall. There shall also be recognition of the top three placing teams in Congressional Debate, Debate Events, and Individual Events.

A: Thank you! Hired judges are very important to our tournaments being run and without you facilitating tournaments would be difficult. As schools request hired judging, Lighthouse Forensics will notify you of your hiring and what events you will likely be judging. If your services are not required for this specific tournament you will receive an email soon after registration closes notifying you that we would love to see you at an upcoming tournament, but won't need any more judges at this tournament.
