Synergy is a grade book tool that includes codes to allow teachers to CLEARLY COMMUNICATE not only your student's overall score in our course, but also the status of specific assignments. I use the codes below to help you know the status of your student's assignments:
AB = Absent. Your student was not in class the day we completed an assignment. They need to contact me with a plan to complete their assignment. COUNTS AS A 0% UNTIL THE ASSIGNMENT IS COMPLETED.
MI = Missing. Your student was in class the day we completed an assignment, but did not submit it. They need to contact me with a plan to complete their assignment. COUNTS AS A 0% UNTIL THE ASSIGNMENT IS COMPLETED.
Blank/no score entered = not yet graded. Your student has submitted the assignment, but it has not yet been scored.
Once a due date for an assignment has passed, students are always encouraged to submit the COMPLETED assignment (see "Formative Credit in AP U.S. History Explained" below for the exception to this rule) for partial credit. Incomplete late assignments will not be scored.
Each semester, NO LATE WORK WILL BE ACCEPTED during or after the week prior to Final Exams, unless you are failing the course and need to submit completed assignments for partial credit to earn credit in the course.
