What is Spectrum?

The Spectrum program is Clarke County's version of elementary gifted education. The goals of the Spectrum Program are congruent with the guidelines set forth by the Georgia State Department of Education:

1. To identify at every level in every school those children who are gifted.

2. To provide an educational program which will enable gifted students to capitalize on their

unique abilities, talents, interests, and needs.

3. To provide academic enrichment and acceleration for gifted students.

The goal of the Cleveland Road Spectrum (gifted education) Program is to ensure that all students at CRES are given access to instruction that is culturally relevant and rigorous. We strive to ensure that access to gifted programming is representational and equitable.

Cleveland Road Elementary has a gifted certified staff member at every grade level. As a team, the grade level representatives, Mr. Weinmeister, and Ms. Dillard will develop differentiated lesson that offer enrichment activities in each subject.

Our program also seeks to provide an educational experience, whether it be based in the classroom or based in community activism, that encourages our students to be life-long learners who are empowered to change the world.

Philosophy

Clarke County endorses the philosophy that education is a means by which every individual has the opportunity to reach his or her fullest potential. Every Clarke County school provides an educational program that recognizes and makes provisions for the individual needs of its students. To this end, in 1972, the Clarke County School District implemented an educational program designed specifically for gifted students.
