This is the inaugural year for the Cleveland Road STEAM program. I have created a STEAM website. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. The STEM acronym was introduced in 2001 by scientific administrators at the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF). Within the past several years, the integration of the arts was added into programs. The purpose of STEAM programs is to help children engage in experiential learning through collaboration, creative problem-solving, and risk taking. The hope is that integrating STEAM education into our daily schedules is that our students will become more innovative thinkers and be prepared to be successful in the ever-changing 21st century.

In the STEAM classroom, your child will participate in various styles of learning. These styles include, but are not limited it, project-based learning, service-learning, flipped classroom, inquiry based learning, and traditional direct instruction. Your child will be given to opportunity to work with a wide array of robots and learn through coding. Some of the robots that our school has access to are pictured below along with fun videos of how they work!

I truly look forward to growing this program with the students at Cleveland Road! Below are a list of some objects that will be frequently used in our classroom. I do not have a "supply list" but rather a list of items that I would love for you to save and send in with your child once school is back in session!
