Secondary ASD Provision, Alva Academy
While the large majority of our learners with ASD are in mainstream schools, there are a few young people who require an enhanced level of support due to the complexity of their ASD. These young people access Clackmannanshire’s Secondary ASD Provision which is located within Alva Academy. The Provision is for secondary aged children who require significant adaptations to the environment, curriculum and require ASD interventions from specialist staff.
Learners benefit from small group and 1-1 teaching, a range of ASD interventions and appropriate sensory learning environment. Staff in the provision work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure support is coordinated.
Individualised planning for learners is detailed within the Child’s Plan, which is developed with the child, the child’s family and professionals involved. For some learners there may also be additional planning documents such as a Co-ordinated Support Plan (CSP).
When appropriate young people may access the mainstream school for aspects of their curriculum.
