This is where you will be able to find the assignments, lectures and tutorials for your classroom assignments. This will be updated weekly (if not more) as the year goes on.
Graphic Design I & Graphic Design Honors are client based design class and to start you off we will create a brochures for CTE classes here at GTHS in Photoshop and in InDesign.
You will be meeting with your teacher to find out what needs to be a part of the brochure, how they would like it to look, images they want to include, etc...Yes, you are designing this, but for your CLIENT so it must please them to get an A. As you meet with your Teacher, you will need to take notes which must be turned in with your final product along with any printed rough drafts.
Things to keep in mind:
Layout
Image quality
Font choice
Color selection/theme

As you work, save your project as a .psd and name it lastname + firstname + cte.psd. When you are finished, save it as a ID and a JPEG with the same name (ex: scalesemilycte.id) and turn in BOTH into the folder for your class. Review the rubric for this project to make sure you aren't going to lose any points!

The ultimate guide to product packaging design
50 insanely creative and stunning packaging designs
Packaging Matters: Case Studies
Product
Make a package for something in the classroom: Mug, wooden spoon, etc or something that you can leave in the classroom throughout the design process!
2019 Examples: Pencil Box | Spoon Box |
Package Requirements
Window that displays product
*We are using old overhead sheets for this!
Under 12 in x 12 in (maximum 2 sheets)
At least one tab and slot
Bonus points for minimum glue
Effectively uses scoring for fold lines
Artwork that matches the style of the product
Process
Research: Deconstruct several packages to see how they were designed. Look how others have packaged your product. Talk with your target audience about packaging.
Ideate: Brainstorm ideas, Sketch out ideas
Scratch Prototype: Create a prototype from paper or chipboard to test out your ideas.
Test Scratch Prototype: Ask your audience for feedback & see if your product fits and the box opens/closes
Design: Create your design using Adobe Illustrator and the technical tips below.
Laser Prototype: Upload Illustrator files to the “Package Cutting Folder” on Google Drive and go cut your prototype on the laser! - While you are testing the structural design, skip engraving the artwork. Engraving is very time consuming. Once you have the package nailed down, then take the time to get the art right.
Test Laser Prototypes: Ask your audience for feedback (repeat process until you and your audience are happy with the design)
Implement:Take photographs of final product for your portfolio. Photography students can help if needed.
