Summer Reading Information

  • On Friday, July 31st, detailed summer reading info was sent home via email to both your CJF email and your parents email. Please check. If you did not receive the email, it is included below.

Dear Seventh Graders,

You are full-fledged members of Middle School! To prepare for our return in September, we will be using ReadWorks to help refresh many of the reading skills you have already learned. Beginning this Monday, August 3rd, you should log into Google Classroom and click on your 6th grade ELA class. Once in your class, you will see that you have been assigned an article to read from ReadWorks. Remember, the all-student password is 1234. You should carefully and thoroughly read the article, using all of the tools provided. (audio reading, highlighting, annotating, vocabulary and definitions, and guided reading strip) After you have read the article, you are required to complete the short question set. As you complete the question set, be sure to use the split screen feature so that you can refer back to the reading to answer the question. Each of the question sets are graded. Once you have completed the four articles (one per week), the four question sets will be averaged together to create your first reading grade of seventh grade. Only one article will be assigned and posted each week.

Enjoy your summer and we look forward to seeing you in September!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Michele Ciaramello and Mrs. Angie Taggart
