Majlisna for Societal Development – is a non-governmental, non-profit civil society development organization that is the local partner of Civic which is based in the United Kingdom.
Majlisna and Civic endeavor to support communities, through implementing development projects that aim to build capacity and promote the principle of social integration of children, youth, women, and people with disabilities by providing a healthy environment that stimulates development and enriches their knowledge and skills. As well as, support the livelihood, protection, and learning interventions so that the communities can achieve their full potential.
Vision: Empowered communities act as change accelerators to make places better, together.
Mission: Majlisna brings people and communities together to improve the well-being of children and empowers caregivers and families to improve the quality of life within neighborhoods and communities.
Majlisna follows and uses community participation and design thinking approaches that motivate people to come up with local solutions to local problems. We then endeavor to support the realization of these solutions through scalable protection, livelihood, and learning interventions so that neighborhoods and families are empowered and children can achieve their full potential as early as possible in their lives.
Majlisna focuses on four concentric themes with community development as its focus:
Childhood and early years: access to play facilities, health, and childcare
Parenthood: parenting and caregivers support and increased access to services
Neighborhood: family-friendly urban planning based on Urban95 designs, safe and playful public spaces, and walking routes.
Livelihood: increased agency, resilience, civic engagement, and economic independence
