Grades 6-8 and grades 9C and 10C sit two tests  a day throughout the week. Home time will follow the Ramzan time announced below.   

Mock exams will proceed on the following dates:

One exam will be conducted every day. Students may leave school at 11 am from the office gate (gate 3); accompanying parents are not required.

Eight students of the class will participate in a campfire at the Football Field of the school along with their parents and teachers. The students are: M. Maaz Mirza, Zainab Khan, Zahra Azam, Aisha Fatima, Sheikh Mehmed, Ashna Umair, Hareem Ashfaq and M. Yousuf Bin Hasham.

All students are required to be in their complete school uniform. 

Performers are required to join their classes in their costumes by 3.15 pm and may be collected upon completion of the entire programme.  Parents are requested to be seated by 3.45 pm. Siblings studying in grade 6 and above may attend in full school uniform. Children above the age of 5 may accompany their parents.

Entry is exclusively through gate 4 (gate 1-3 - the front gate - will be closed for pedestrians) and parents are requested to please park their cars inside the school premises.

Parents of students of the Preschool are invited for their children's annual concert. 

Parents are requested to please bring their vehicles in through gate 4 to park inside the school premises. 

Classes are suspended in grades 2 and 3 on the day to enable the staging of the Preschool concert in the Junior School.  

The Sports Day a the Senior School is the culmination of the annual sports calendar. Students will compete in front of the whole school. 

The contest will start at 8.15 am. Parents of speakers may be invited individually. 

Students will proceed to CookEd at Northwalk in North Nazimabad in complete formal school uniform. Students will prepare and enjoy their meals at the cafe and will return to school before home-time. 

Grade 4 will proceed on their school trip on 27 February 2024. Grade 2 & 3 will proceed on the trip on 28 February 2024.

Attendance is NOT mandatory. Parents wishing for their wards to proceed on the school trip may please provide their consent here by Friday, 23 February 2024 and send Rs 900/-towards expenses at the cafe (the fee at the cafe is Rs 800/- and the school will utilize the balance towards payment of fee of students the school deems appropriate). 

School will remain closed on Monday, February 26, 2024 on account of Shab-e-Barat as announced by the Government of Sindh

Online classes will be held up for school days lost to unscheduled holidays during elections.

The school will not issue new sports uniforms for the sports day, however, sports uniforms are available at the school's uniform vendors.

The Government of Sindh has announced a new anti-polio campaign that includes administering polio drops to ALL students enrolled in the school that are under 5 years of age. Parents wishing for polio drops to be administered to their children may ensure that they are in school throughout the week as the campaign will visit the school unannounced. 

School administration is legally obligated to ensure the campaign administers drops to ALL the eligible students of the school. 

Certain students of grades 9-11 will sit their A2 German exams at the Goethe Institut. Required paperwork will be handed to the students on 8 January 2024 and must be returned the next day. 

The new term will start from 4 January 2024.

The school will break for the winter from 22 December 2023 and students will return to school on 4 January 2024.

• Gates 1 & 2 (front gates) will close to the parents at 8.00 am. Students may come into the school up to 8.05 am, after which time they will be marked late. 

• Students in the Playgroup may be dropped at gate 1 (one of the front gates) up to 9 am. Parents may note that the gate will be closed to them and female staff will be available to receive the student. 

• Parents are requested to clear the school premises by 8.00 am. 

Students will arrive in complete sports uniforms (sports lowers, t-shirts and sports pullover - NOT blue fleeces) by 7.45 am. Parents are requested to please be seated by 8.15 am. The programme is scheduled to finish by 10.30 am, whereupon students will leave school with their parents.  

Parents are requested to please bring their vehhicles in through gate 4 to park inside the school. Vehicles are requested not to be parked outside the school. 

Non-participating siblings may attend in complete formal school uniform. 

Students of Nursery, Kindergarten and grade 1 will proceed to Giggle Town, a children's recreation area at the Ocean Mall, Clifton and will return in time for the 1.20 pm home time. Their usual school vans will return them home but at the later hour. 

Parents are requested to pack a lunch in the students' bags. 

The trip is not mandatory. Parents opting to send their children on the trip are requested to provide their consent here and to send Rs 700/- per child to their classteacher. Of this amount, Rs 600/- will be for their tickets whereas the balance amount may be utilized for related costs including, but not limited to, paying for those who cannot pay. 

Students will arrive in their home clothes and bring equipment/items related to the campfire in their backpacks. A list of items is advised in respective Google Classrooms.

The cast of our forthcoming Senior School Urdu play will commence rehearsals every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2 pm to 3.20 pm. Parents of individual students will be notified directly.

The school regularly promotes healthy food to its students. The cart for roasted corn (مکئی) has enjoyed some popularity. In the same vein, a fruit-cart will sell fruits to the students every Tuesday from 12.40 to 14.20 pm. Current retail prices are Rs 30 for an orange, an apple or two bananas. The fruits are individually wrapped in striking, disposable, biodegradable packaging. 

Instructions from parents will encourage students to eat fruit. 

A school holiday on Monday, 4 December 2023 will mark the end of the Fall Term this Friday and the start of the Spring Term the following Tuesday.  Students will be off on 4 December while school staff will attend school to prepare for the new term. 

Exams scheduled for 4 December will be held as announced.

Home-time pickup from within the school has been arranged to facilitate parents. It is a pleasure to see this facility utilized, however, a clear need is felt to draft the following rules to ensure students’ safety:

1.     Parents may walk into the school through gate 1A but may not cross gate 1B. Please make it the children’s responsibility to locate their parents. The staff has clear instructions not to get involved in calling the students. 

2.     Parents may bring their vehicles (cars and motorcycles) into the school through gate 2. Such parents must strictly stay inside their vehicles. Parents are requested to please train their children to spot their vehicles and step inside. 

3.     Parents are requested not to honk their car horns. 

4. Home-time pickup from within the school is possible up to 1.40 pm and vehicles must leave the premises by this time.

The school is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Sumaiyya Aftab as the Coordinator for the Special Needs Group. Sumaiyya has worked with the school for the last four years and  will head this group  of 12 teachers. 

Ms Sarwat Zehra, who has taken up an assignment outside the school, will continue her attachment with us through a seat on the group's management board. 

The school takes great pride in its special needs group and looks forward to the development of its activities with great confidence and excitement. 

Home time for grade 5 will be 11 am only on that day. School vans will be available at that time to drop their students home. 

Grade 1 will get off at 12.30 pm and students may share the school van with those from the preschool. 

Students will proceed to Danzoo, Bahria Town, Karachi  in complete formal school uniform. Home time for the visiting classes will be 3 pm and school vans will be available to subsequently drop them home. 

Students wishing to proceed on the trip may arrive at the school by 8 am in complete, formal school uniform and will bring an appropriate lunch.

Students of grades 9, 10 and 11 will be visiting universities in northern Pakistan as well as sites of interest in the first week of November.  Students will leave by bus after school on the 1 November 2023. They will travel overnight to Lahore to attend the national German spelling bee for which the Civilizations team has qualified. They will also attend a language festival at Aitchison College and will visit the National College of Arts and Lahore University of Management Sciences. Students will proceed to NUST in Islamabad, GIK Insitute in Topi and Islamia College in Peshawar. In between, the students will take a recreation break at Thandiani near Abbotabad.

Several senior staff members will accompany the students and accordingly, classes for 9-11 will remain suspended from 2-10 November.

This is the school’s fourth trip on this route and all hotels and transporters are known to the school staff. The trip provides exposure to the students to the top universities in Pakistan and the experience to live a few days away from home in a supervised environment. It improves the bonding between students and makes for lifelong memories. 

The 12-day trip will cost Rs 50,000/- per student. This amount will cover for travel, meals and stay at various hotels, as well as incidental expenses. The tentative schedule for the trip is laid out below. Parents wishing to send their wards on the trip are requested to please fill out the consent form here, upon which an invoice will be issued. The last date for payment is 25 October 2023.

Zain Anwar, Fatima Baig and Zain Siddiqui (pictured above) of class of 2022 started with their university studies in Computer Science at Technische Hochschule at Ingolstadt, Germany this month. 

Fatima and Zain Siddiqui qualified their B1 exams while at Civilizations while Zain Anwar learned German while at college in Karachi. Germany universities teach free of charge, while the students are able to take care of their living expenses through part-time employment in Germany. Their superior German language skills enable these students to obtain white-collar jobs, some of which might well be as computer programmers. All three expect to complete their studies without any financial help from home. 

Kindergarten: 9 am to 9.45 am

Nursery & Playgroup: 10.30 am to 11.15 am

Students will arrive at the school and leave with their mothers. They must be dressed in full school uniform. 

Students of KGB will present "The Enormous Turnip" in a speclal assembly presentation. 

The school is looking to develop a regime of hearing and sight tests for its students. A pilot for these tests - a hearing exam - will be conducted on certain students of the school. The tests are non-intrusive and will be conducted by qualified doctors but a teacher will be present during the tests. 

Parents of performing students are invited to elocution by students of grades 6-7 on 25 October 2023 at 8 am. Grades 8-11 will have their elocution on 26 October 2023. 

The elocution event will take place with the morning assembly. Parents of performing students are invited.

On the day, students will have their breakfast together in the school verandah. Students will dine on the breakfast items they bring as well as on the pancakes cooked in the school. They will then wash up and resume their lessons in class. 

 Students in grades 9C may choose between studying Biology or Computer Science. 

Computer Science will be introduced as a separate subject in grade 8C and will be taught along with other subjects. Students have been advised on the required course material. Computer labwork will commence from the second term but students are NOT required to purchase their own computers. 

Registration forms for AKU Board Exams of April 2024 will be handed to the students of grade 9B in the coming week. Parents are requested to complete the forms carefully and to return them with a copy of birth certificate and 2 photographs (size and specifications will be attached with the registration form).

Registration fee for the exams, Rs. 19,500 for Grade 9 and Rs. 16,800 for Grade 10, will be collected in the month of October 2023. Grade 10B is not required to fill new forms.

Kindergarten will visit a dentistry in Federal B Area during the school day and return before home time. Parents are requested to provide their consent to the visit here.

In the old Civilizations tradition, a book bazaar will be held on the results day at the school from 9.15 am to 10.30 am. Students may sell or purchase, or exchange their textbooks or story books.  

Students are strongly encouraged to bring their storybooks for exchange on that day.

The preschool and grades 1-3 will have a fun week ending on 19 May 2023 that will also be the last day of school for these grades. 

Grades 4 and 5 will continue with their lessons up to 25 May 2023, followed by a class party on the last day of their school on 26 May 2023. 

Exams for grade 9C start from Saturday, 13 May 2023, those for 7C and 8C from Tuesday, 16 May; and for all other classes 6-9 and 10C from Wednesday, 17 May 2023. 

Exams  shall proceed until 25 May 2023 and these grades shall have a class party on 26 May 2023. 

A parent-teacher meeting shall be held on Saturday, 3 June 2023. Please watch this space for further instructions on the meeting. 

Home-time: 

• For all grades up to grade 3,  home-time from 16 May 2023 shall be 12 noon. 

• Grades 4 and 5 shall break for home at 12 noon from 17 May, 2023 . 

• For grades 6 and above, home-time shall be 11 am during exam days and 2 pm otherwise. 

• On 26 May 2023, home-time for grades 4-5 shall be 10.30 am and for grades 6 and above shall be 11.15 am. 

Students of grade 7C are scheduled to sit their Fit 1 Exams on 30 May 2023 at 1.30 pm at the Goethe Institut, ''Alliance Francaise de Karachi'' plot ST/1, near Teen Talwar, Block 8, Kehkashan, Clifton (Opp. Memon Gali), behind ICAP, Karachi.  

Parents are responsible for the transportation

In addition to all the students of grade 7C, the following students are sitting the exam: 

Abdullah Farhan, 9C; M. Mustafa, 8C; Taha Usman, 8C and Basil Burhan, 8C.

A preparatory class will be held 9-11 am on Monday, 29 May 2023. All students sitting the exam are required to attend  in full school uniform. The class will be followed by the movie "Little Princess". Grade 7C students may be collected from the school at 1.30 pm on that day. 

Civilizaitons's Michael John Programme provides flexible financial aid on an annual renewal basis to student of the school. The programme is dedicated to the memory of Michael John, a domestic worker at the school who was killed in a road accident. 

Application forms for financial aid may be obtained from the Reception from 17 May 2023 upon presenting a paid invoice for May 2023. The form may be submitted by 15 June 2023. Current recipients of the programme are required to renew their award annually. 

The lower classes will lapse into delirious summer fun at the end of their academic year. Sprinklers, pool, waffle-making, an ice-cream cart and other such frivolities shall be organized. Much fun can be looked forward to and a detailed calendar has been loaded up in Google Classroom. 

Friday, 19 May 2023 will be the last day of school for these grades. 

Students of grades 9 & 10 (AKU) will have a regular day at school. Teachers will give out and discuss their mock results. 

Grades 1-9 will visit the Magnifiscience Centre near I I Chundrigar Road and will return to school past the regular home time. Home time will be as follows:

Junior School: 2.30 pm

Senior School: 3.10 pm

Preschool shall not proceed on the trip and will get off at the regular hour of 12.40 pm. Van service will operate as usual to serve the altered home times on that day. 

Students are advised to please pack a large lunch and water in a small backpack.

The trip was announced in March 2023 and parents consents obtained. Accordingly, fresh consents are not being requesting. 

School will remain closed on Monday, 1 May 2023 as announced by the Government of Sindh.

The Drama Morning has been postponed to a later date to be announced in due course. Regular classes will be held on 22 March 2023.

School is off on account of Pakistan Day as announced by the Government of Sindh.

Registering students will sit the German B1 exam of the Goethe Institut. The venue of the exam is Alliance Francaise in Clifton Karachi. An enrollment fee of Rs 8,000/- will be collected from the students.  

Students will proceed to the Zeeshan Haider Park, a privately run park in Nazimabad, on buses contracted by the school. Students will return to the school by the Preschool hometime of 12.40 pm. 

Students are required to bring home-cooked and home-wrapped meals with them. Students are required not to bring items in retail packaging (eg,  plastic bags and wrappers, disposable bottles or tetra-packs).

Zeeshan Park charges Rs 500 per child in gate money. 

Parents wishing for their children to proceed on the trip are requested to please:

1. Send the amount indicated above in cash to the school on 13 or 14 March 2023; and

2. Fill out the consent form here.

The trip is not mandatory but there will be no classes on that day for those not proceeding on the trip. 

The trip to the Magnifiscience Centre has been postponed to a later date due to the possible law & order and traffic situation in the city on 15 March 2023. The school has taken this decision with a heavy heart. However, it would be inadvisable to take any risk regarding the safety and comfort of the students, especially when they are outside the secure environment of the school. 

The school intends to take its students for a visit to the Magnifiscience Centre in the next few weeks.   

We will have regular classes on 15 March 2023.

Students of grade 7c will proceed to the PACC Auditorium on Fatima Jinnah Road to attend a threatrical performance of the play. The trip will be completed within regular school hours. Parents are requested to please provide their consent here. 

Students should wear their formal uniforms including their blazers (and not their sports uniform).

The farewell will be held at the school premises.

School will remain closed on Monday, 27 February 2023 owing to the law & order situation in the city.

Civilizations is pleased to present the English play "The Play that Goes Wrong". Apart from the students, several of the alumni and outside guests are invited. Attendance is by invitation only. The event will end by 9.15 pm.

The Senior School Sports Day is held during school hours in front of the whole school. 

The Government of Sindh is administering deworming tablets to boys of 5-14 years and girls of 5-18 years. Should you NOT wish for your child to take the tablet, please complete the form here by 2 pm on Monday, 6 February 2023.

Parents at grades 1-3 are invited to attend their children's sports day. Students will arrive before 8 am and parents are requested to be seated by 8.30 am. The event is expected to end by 10.15 am. 

The school will revert to normal hours from Monday, 6 February 2023. 

The Department of Education has delivered it's decision regarding the Friday 27 January incident in the school. It has fined the school while it has imposed other procedural clauses.  

The school disagrees with the decision and will appeal against it.

The school remains open as usual. Classes will resume on Tuesday.

Changes to Vacations and Exams

The Government of Sindh has announced amendment to winter vactions. Accordingly:

1. Winter vacations will commence from 22 December 2022 and will extend to 1 January 2023. School will reopen on 2 January 2023.  

2. Senior School will sit one paper of the term exam on Saturday, 17 December 2022 and exams will be held up to 21 December 2022. Grades 9, 10 and 11 sit certain of their papers upon their return in January 2022. Timetables in this regard have already been shared with the students.  

3. Children's Theatre for grades 1, 2 and 3 will be held on 22 December 2022.
