Toward a Dashboard of Economic Contributions of the U.S. Nonprofit Sector
Civance Research proposes a public dashboard to measure the economic contributions of U.S. nonprofits, addressing gaps left by existing platforms like Guidestar/Candid and NCCS. Using IRS Form 990 data and IMPLAN modeling, the tool will offer real-time regional estimates of nonprofit employment, GDP impact, labor income, and tax contributions. A state-level pilot will lay the groundwork for national expansion. This dashboard will support funders, policymakers, and advocates by providing clear, accessible data to guide decisions and highlight the sector’s economic value.

Barometer of the U.S. Nonprofit Sector
The Barometer of the U.S. Nonprofit Sector is a real-time survey panel that gathers timely insights from a representative group of nonprofit organizations across the country. Led by Civance Research, the project addresses the lack of fast, reliable data that leaders, funders, and policymakers need to make informed decisions. Through brief and frequent surveys, the Barometer captures nonprofit perspectives on staffing, funding, equity, collaboration, and other key issues. Results are quickly analyzed and shared through a public website, offering an ongoing, responsive snapshot of sector trends and concerns.

Resilience and Innovative Approaches to Generate Revenue Among Nonprofits in Mexico
This project by Civance Research explores how Mexican nonprofits are adapting to a restrictive funding landscape marked by declining public support, tighter tax regulations, and reduced international aid. It aims to identify innovative revenue strategies through webinars, case studies, and data analysis. The initiative will produce practical tools—such as guides, videos, and infographics—and pilot a microgrant program to support financial innovation. The goal is to strengthen nonprofit resilience and provide actionable insights for organizations, funders, and policymakers.
