Purpose
The purpose of the CIU 20 Workplace Health and Safety Committee is to provide an avenue for all CIU 20 employees to contribute to workplace safety in hope of achieving and maintaining a safe, healthy working environment.
Goal
The goal of the CIU 20 Workplace Health and Safety Committee is to eliminate workplace incidents and illnesses by involving employees and managers in identifying hazards and suggesting ways to eliminate and prevent them from occurring. This can be facilitated by reviewing incidents, identifying root causes of incidents and suggesting ways to prevent future incidents.
Objectives
The CIU 20 Workplace Health and Safety Committee has five objectives:
Provide measures for employee involvement in achieving a safe, healthful working environment.
Regularly review all safety-related incidents, injuries, accidents, illnesses and deaths.
Conduct annual, or as needed, workplace inspections, identify hazards and recommend methods for eliminating or controlling hazards. Establish procedures to ensure follow-up and closure for all reported hazards.
Annually evaluate the workplace safety and health program and recommend improvements to management.
Participate and take initiative to contribute to the overall success of the CIU 20 Workplace Health and Safety Committee.
Employee Involvement
The CIU 20 Workplace Health and Safety Committee will encourage employees to identify and report health and safety concerns and hazards in the workplace. Concerns raised by employees can be presented to the committee, recorded in the meeting minutes, and reviewed by the committee.

Meeting Minutes are available to all CIU 20 Employees both by request, as well as the link below, on demand. CIU 20 employees when signed into their Google work account and click on the button below for access to meeting minutes.
ALICE e-Learning provides interactive, online active shooter response and preparedness training for individuals and organizations. The curriculum teaches trauma-informed, options-based strategies to survive violent critical incidents through Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate protocols.
CIU 20 Staff can logon to the ALICE E-Learning portal at anytime once their account is established, to participate in the ALICE training courses, as well as other helpful related courses, to enhance staff's school safety and security knowledge and responses to real-life school based situations.
Trainings are also available for specific roles school staff may have, such as bus drivers, cafeteria workers, administrators and more.
