As our teams eagerly await the arrival of the grapes, they are busy preparing the wineries and cellars for the exciting season ahead! There is a wide range of equipment that helps with the crush process. One key piece of equipment is the sorting table, pictured below. This table is primarily used to sort red varietal clusters. It functions like a conveyor belt, gently vibrating to help separate the clusters. This process allows team members to remove any MOG (Materials Other than Grapes), such as rocks, sticks, or leaves.
The sorting table also serves as a great spot to connect with colleagues, enjoy conversation, and take in the fresh, earthy scents of the harvest season!
Our Hudson Valley location will be crushing a ton of wine this Harvest. Check out this interview in our Hudson Valley on site vineyard with Winemaker Travis Van Caster on what he and the team are doing to prepare for the arrival of our grapes!
