Club History
Club history
Our program was born during the summer of 1992 at Takoma Recreation Center, located in Washington D.C. Over the next decade, the program, led by Keith Tucker and Kabir Hakim, grew to over 80 players.
In 2001, the cohort from Takoma, formerly WYSA Academy, toured Europe to play matches against Ajax, Liverpool, West Ham, and Chelsea. The Academy's crowning victory came against Chelsea's U19s. The team dominated the game and only gave up one late goal, defeating Chelsea 3-1 at their academy facility. The tour was documented and televised by Futbol Mundial to millions across 144 countries. Players from the Academy have played competitive matches in France, Spain, England, Holland, Brazil, Norway, and Denmark.
Our program has developed some of the top players and teams in the country. Below is a list of achievements.
