Jason Gross holds an A-Senior Coaching License from the U.S. Soccer Federation and brings more than 20 years of experience as an NCAA Men’s and Women’s soccer coach, Academy and Sporting Director, and educator. Since 2022, Jason has served as an Assistant Coach with Howard University’s NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer program, where he has helped lead the team to its best season since 2010. This comes after his tenure as Head Coach of Women’s Soccer at Trinity Washington University, where Jason led a historic program turnaround, highlighted by the first-ever victory over an NCAA Division II opponent.
As a Sporting Director, Jason has designed and led high-performance environments that have produced some of the nation’s top players, including U.S. Youth National Team selections, a D.C. Gatorade Player of the Year, and innumerable NCAA student-athletes. His teams have captured a State Cup title, three Regional Championships, and competed in multiple National Championships across various competitive formats. As a Coaching Educator, Jason has delivered professional development and mentorship to hundreds of coaches throughout the region.
An alumnus, Jason also returned to School Without Walls High School—one of DCPS’s premier academic institutions—where he led the girls’ soccer program to a DCIAA Championship Final.
Jason’s playing career includes a U.S. Youth National Team call-up and a distinguished collegiate career at Howard University, where he was a four-year starter and three-year team captain. He earned two All-Conference First Team honors and went on to play professionally in the Major Indoor Soccer League with the New Jersey Ironmen. His playing experience spans seven countries, including France, England, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Norway.
In addition to his collegiate coaching responsibilities, Jason serves as the Senior Program Director of Programs, Soccer, and Operations at DC SCORES, where he leads large-scale programming for over 3500 kids and 100+ coaches focused on access, equity, and long-term player and coach development.
A native of Washington, D.C., Idris “Alex” Ughiovhe has over 15 years of coaching experience. He has coached at various levels, including high school, club, and college, where he has developed players at every level. Alex is very proud to continue to play a massive part in player development and help players reach the level of collegiate soccer and beyond.
Coach Alex is currently an Assistant Coach of Men's Soccer at Howard University. Before joining the Bison, he served as the Head Coach of the Trinity Washington University Women’s Soccer team. During his first year as an assistant, Alex helped the Tigers to their first-ever win over a Division 2 school and their first multi-win game season. As a first-year head coach, he helped the Tigers record their most successful season of the last decade.
Before coaching, Coach Alex grew up playing club soccer at Washington Soccer Club and Bethesda Soccer Club. He served as captain his senior year at Woodrow Wilson High School, now known as Jackson Reed, and was selected to the 2001 All-Met team. Alex went on to play at Howard University, where he captained the team his senior year. Alex and his sister Angel Ughiovhe were the first siblings to be captains at the collegiate level at the same school while both were there.
In 2006 he was drafted by the Chicago Fire (MLS) and then went on to play with Crystal Palace USA (USL), receiving multiple honors.
