Tech Tykes Early Learning Center

Alphabet Rescue: This activity was completed after reading the Alphabet Rescue. The children had to locate a letter after walking across the balance beam, identify the letter, and rescue the letter by taking back over the beam/bridge. The other students counted while one or two students performed the activity. Our theme is Safety. This activity covered multiple skills: Gross motor, literacy, social studies, science, and math.

Congratulations Tech Tykes Early Learning Center for maintaining STAR 4 Status!!!!

Information and History of CIT Tech Tykes Center earning STAR status:

Keystone STARS (Standards, Training/Professional Development, Assistance, Resources, and Supports) is a quality rating system that promotes quality improvement in early learning and development programs and school-age child care. A Keystone STARS designation informs parents that their children are in a safe, respectful environment in which they are learning new things every day to support their current and future successes in school and in life (education.pa.gov).

In 2002, the STARS program was initiated and was a voluntary program which early learning centers could participate in. CIT Tech Tykes began participating in the STARS program in December 2004, earning a STAR 1. We earned a STAR 2 in 2005, STAR 3 in 2009 and continued to work hard to improve the quality of Tech Tykes by earning a STAR 4 in February 2011. We have continued to provide high quality care and education and allowed us to maintain our STAR 4 status since then.

Participation in Keystone STARS is now mandatory of Department of Human Services licensed centers. All centers must meet and maintain a minimum of STAR 1 requirements. STAR 4 is the highest level one can reach. The programs must meet certain quality standards in four key areas: staff education, learning environment, leadership/management, and family/community partnerships. The higher the STAR level, the higher the quality standards.

High quality early learning programs will offer your child a stimulating, nurturing environment which should help prepare them for school and to reach his or her full potential. Quality environments provide a stimulating, loving atmosphere in which children will thrive. The Performance Standards for Keystone STARS quality-rated providers are guided by the principle that quality early learning programs are the foundation for children's success, and investment in the early care and education of Pennsylvania's children is an investment in the future (education.pa.gov).

CIT Tech Tykes Early Learning Center teachers provide early childhood care and education in a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment that reflects the individual needs of the child and family. The center provides clinical experience for students enrolled in the Early Childhood Education program. Maintaining the quality of care and education is key in order to model high standards for the ECE students who come to the center daily.

Tech Tykes incorporates several CIT programs into learning experiences/lessons for the tykes. Here are a few programs we visit throughout the school year.
