2018 / 2019 BlOOD DRIVES

HRT hosted 4 blood drives in 2018 - 2019.

An average of 70 students registered per drive.

In 2019, CIT collected over 90 units of blood.

In 2018, CIT collected 177 units of blood.

This years Blood Drive Captain, Gina Serrapica from Nazareth HS, assisted in planning and organizing each drive. Her job was not only to recruit for the drive, but manage the student volunteer positions and communicate with the blood center prior to the drive-logging the name of each potential donor into the system. She will receive a $500 scholarship from MKBC at a breakfast next week.

During each drive, 6 students from Health Related Technology volunteer in either the canteen or donor aide positions, MKBC offers the volunteer training program each September for CIT HRT students. Students who volunteer 4 times in their high school career may apply to the Red Cord Hero Program as 12th graders.

Each April, we assist 12th graders in applying for the Red Cord Hero Program, sponsored by MKBC. If they have donated blood 4 times in their high school career, students will be recognized with Red Cords that they can wear at their HS graduation and a certificate that they can keep for their professional portfolios.
