The Health Related Technology students had exciting experiences and opportunities during the month of April.
Nine students represented CIT at the HOSA State Leadership Conference in Valley Forge. Gina Serrapica, Nazareth 12th grader brought home a Silver Medal in Job Seeking Skills. Some favorite parts of the conference were playing BINGO on Wednesday night, meeting Dean Vaughn (the writer of our medical terminology book), the inspirational speaker at the opening session, and competing in each competitive event area. Students enjoyed stopping at Dave and Buster’s for lunch and playtime on the way home.

There, they were able to be in a trauma bay and listen to the story of a high school student who was shot multiple times after a case of mistaken identity…Gun violence is a real thing that students have to deal with today and this program really highlights the dangers of guns, the injuries that may occur and that, at Temple last year, they had a gun related incident every day of the year, except for 14 days.

PM students also traveled to the Mutter Museum in Philadelphia.

During the visit, students were able to learn about the history of the spread of diseases in an museum instructor lead lesson, toured the medicinal garden and explored the collection of oddities including being able to see a piece of Albert Einstein’s brain.

The wall of skulls, the large colon, and the bizarre fetal developmental displays were all big hits with the students.
