Our school seeks and affirms each student’s worth and dignity. Bullying undermines these values and can negatively inhibit a student’s development and their quest to reach for excellence. It is the responsibility of everyone in the CIS community to prevent bullying in all its forms (reference the Community Standards and Behavior Policy).

Digital Citizenship is crucial for navigating the digital world, confidently, safely, responsibly, and with integrity. With the widespread use of technology among young children, it is essential to equip them with the knowledge and skills to use technology positively and avoid online risks. Our curriculum uses the CIS Mission and Core Values as its foundation and the ISTE Digital Citizenship Standards, and the Common Sense Digital Citizenship curriculum as guides.
Digital citizenship refers to the responsible use of technology, including the internet, social media, and other digital tools. The six key topics and what students will be able to do with each include:
Media balance and well-being: to develop healthy media habits and reduce screen time.
Privacy and security: to protect personal information and avoid online risks.
Digital footprint and identity: to create a positive profile and manage online reputation.
Relationships and communication: to develop empathy and respect for others.
Cyberbullying, digital drama, and hate speech: to identify cyberbullying and promote positive digital behavior.
News and media literacy: developing critical thinking skills, evaluating information and recognizing fake news.
Lessons are thoughtfully integrated into content subject lessons and advisory with the support of all staff so lessons are purposeful and impactful. Reach out to us at sec-ict@cis.edu.hk for our full curriculum.

Parents of students in Years 7 to 9 should have a parent administrator account set up on their child's laptop.
Setting up a parent account on your child's laptop allows you to manage the applications that your child may install. It involves having an administrator account for yourself and then creating your child's account as a standard account. When your child wants to install any applications on the laptop, they will have to ask you for yor to enter your secret parent password. Your password as the administrator is to be kept private and a secret from your child.

In our experience, families who have implemented a family media agreement have the least amount of issues around screen time. Agreements should affect ALL members of the household - adults and children.
Both parent/s and child/ren should watch this video (10 min) for support around the discussions and work that must take place before creating a family media agreement. Have paper and pencils ready as you'll be creating your family media agreement.
