Manuela Magallanes was born on November 4, 2008, in Rosario, a small town in Uruguay. When she was a few months old, she arrived in the Dominican Republic. After that, she returned to Uruguay when she was 4 years old and came back to the Dominican Republic when she was 8 years old.
Since she was a little girl, she changed schools a lot, her dream was to settle in one place and not have to change friends, and so it was. When she arrived for the second time in the Dominican Republic, she entered Cathedral International School, the school where she is now.
Manuela has always had a great love for art since she was a little girl, thanks to her father's influence. She has always loved the idea of creating and imagining. For as long as she can remember she has loved acting and movies, so she liked the idea of studying cinematography.
As she grew up, she became very interested in Artificial Intelligence, she considers it is the present and future of the world. Thanks to this, her idea changed, now she would like to study Artificial Intelligence. The idea of systems replacing human intelligence and improving their tasks is wonderful. People can become a delay for the development of society. People fight, lose focus, act out of convenience, besides, the human body needs rest and people usually work 8 hours. By using systems or machines to replace humans we would save time in exorbitant amounts, they do not need time to rest, and do not put their feelings or beliefs before the task. Having these brilliant systems the development of the world would be wonderful and fast. This was her inspiration to study this career.
For all the above mentioned, her goal is to be able to acquire the maximum knowledge of this subject, to use it in the future to help the world and become an admirable person, not only with her knowledge, but with her values as a person.
KAYSM TECH was created on August 30, 2022, at the beginning of ninth grade. The name is based on the initials of each of the girls, except Onely, who joined the group 10 days after the creation of the team. From then on they have a huge commitment to the group as such, that was the step to form a family and learn to accept the help of others and help out. By creating the group they learned what the true meaning of being interdependent is.
They have goals and commitments, but in order to accomplish everything they set out to do, they say it is important to keep in mind the following values: responsibility, cooperation, friendship, honesty, trust, wisdom, creativity, and last but not least, enjoy the process and have fun.
Projects
This was the result of the work.
This was the first digital work done in the class and it was done as a team. They were asked to build on the plan: 7 buildings, 4 houses, 2 streets and a car.
First, the group decided to divide the work to make it easier and not to get confused. During the process, they also worked in teams.
In this, they learned to work all together, to know our weaknesses when using the Tinkercad app, to be responsible and to listen to our classmates..We also learned how to copy and paste shapes. At the same time, we learned how to change the size of the shapes without affecting their shape. Manuela learned the basics of programming by doing this project and discovered how fun and interesting it can be to build digitally.
The bicycle was the second work assigned, this was done individually. This project consisted of each team being assigned an object, which each member of the group had to recreate on the platform individually, in the case of KAYSM TECH, they were assigned a bicycle.
Manuela decided that her bike would be orange with some black parts. To create this job, she had to understand how Tinkercad works and the functions it offers. After this, she began to give details to the bicycle. During the process she discovered new techniques to work on the platform.
She discovered and learned new techniques to design objects on the platform. She considers that this one had a higher degree of difficulty since she did not have the direct help of her classmates. Even so, she enjoyed the process of creating the bike.
This was the final result of the bicycle.
These were the movements.
This was the third project assigned to us by Mr. Reynoso, it was done individually. In this project, again, each group would be assigned a figure, each member would have to move the figure within the Cartesian plane. In the case of KAYSM TECH, they were assigned to move the star. The teacher specified the movements that had to be made.
First, she moved the star from the outside to the center. Then, she had to make the star go up and down. After this step, she moved the star from the center to the outside. After this, she made the star go up and move from the outside to the inside as if it were a spiral.
Manuela considers this was the most complicated project she has done so far. When making the project, it was a little difficult to understand the pattern, but once she understood it, she was able to do it, but it takes a lot of time and concentration to avoid mistakes and damage the rest of the work. Manuela learned to program commands to move the figures in the plane. Also, he learned to move the figures using the x, y and z axis.
This was the game.
This was the presentation.
This was the fourth project assigned by Mr. Reynoso, it was done in groups. In this project each team had to talk about the same topic, Scratch. They had to make a presentation with the most relevant information, such as the founder, meaning of the logo, history, etc... Sometime later, they were assigned to make a Scratch game as a sample of their knowledge of the site, taking into account our creativity and the management of the site.
To carry out this project, first, they all got together and researched everything related to Scratch. After researching, they put all their knowledge into a document and shared out what each of them would say. Afterward, they made an eye-catching presentation together. Weeks after the research and presentation, they were asked to make the game, this was the most difficult part for them, since the game could only be programmed on one computer, which slowed down the creation process. To make their game, they took inspiration from the game "Subway Surfers". They changed the theme of the game a bit to a robot, which jumps over the trucks to avoid being run over. In the game, the speed of the trucks is totally random, which makes the game a bit more complicated. The game has some prizes, such as coins, which you can get by touching them, while you get the coins you can see in the top left corner of the screen the number of coins you have, it also has a jumping power plus something you get by taking the boot. You also have the option to pause the game by pressing the letter "P". When you lose in the game, "Game Over" appears on the screen. . The game has a menu. The background of the menu is somewhat peculiar, you can see the background of the game, the moving grass and the moving trucks alike. At the top of the menu is the name of the game "RUNNING ROBOTS", further down you can see the other menu options, where you can find the option to start the game, and general information about the game (who created it, the Gmail, etc.). All the letters in this game used the "pixel" font. Those backgrounds and the menu title, robot, trucks and trunk had the color symbolized KAYSM TECH, which was purple and white. In addition, the other colors to benefit. Such as black, pink, blue and yellow.
For Manuela, this was the most difficult project so far, since she was not used to using the Scratch page, let alone making a game. There was another difficulty that marked the way in which the project was carried out, and that was that it was not possible to use several devices at the same time to carry out the programming process. Every time you entered the link to share the project you could not see the changes made by others, so they had to choose a more difficult alternative, to do it on a single computer and watch at the time in detail so that no mistakes were made. They also held meetings to work and not leave the work to anyone else. As for the presentation, it was very fun and interesting to get together to work and share information with each other, giving them the opportunity to get to know each other better and learn together about Scratch and become familiar with the site. With this project Manuela learned how to program games, she was able to see all the block options in Scratch. Something that she found very interesting is the importance of "x" and "y" when programming, from the position of an object, to the gravity that is exerted on it. Manuela learned the importance of always being united and working as a group, so they can find more solutions to the problems that arise.
