Kathy He was born on March 9, 2007 in National District, Dominican Republic. She has studied in many different schools. But now, she is a ninth grade student of Cathedral International School.
When she was six years old, she went to Guangdong, which is located in China. Then, she with her family started learning in a school called Shuilou Primary School. During these years, they lived in their grandparent's home. After three years, when she was nine years old, she came back to Dominican Republic.
Her dream is to travel all over the world. To see every scenery, to eat every type of food, to meet every kind of people, to try new things, and to know strange, amazing and incredible things of all over the world. If is possible, with a person she loves.
Kathy interacts with technology all her life, from little to now. When she was little, she loved to watch cartoons on TV with her young brother and used technology to communicate with her parents, because her parents were far away. And she always constructs items such as buildings, cars and boats by using LEGO with her young brother. Now, as her hobby, she loves to play video games, watch series and movies on her laptop and read virtually. Even though, the most time she spends in technology is for her classes. Because she must investigate on the Internet to learn more things. Regrettably, she doesn't know what her career will be. However, she wants her career relating to travel. In fact, it is also relating to technology. The reason is that she wants every memory of her travel to be conserve as photos or videos and share these memories in some applications to let more people know about those beautiful scenery. For all of those reasons, she wants to learn about technology and as well as use it in the future.
On August 30, 2022, Kathy and other teammates that are Axelys Cabrera, Yuliana de la Cruz, Sidney Ríos, Manuela Magallanes created a group called KAYSM TECH, and later, Onely Santos joined on September 9, 2022. Each of them learned different values (like cooporation), techniques and information about technology and robotics. For example, they learned about programming. They made three different projects that were designing the city, designing bicycles and programming on the web site called Tinkercad.
Kathy and her group started their first work on September 2, 2022 that was to design a city in Tinkercad. This work must contain 4 houses, 7 buildings, 2 streets, one car. They also put other decorations. For example, park, supermarket, school, etc.
In this case, Sidney had to make the four houses, Axelys had to make apartments, Yuliana had to make supermarket, Manuela had to make the school and Kathy made the parks, streets and the decorations around the city. However, we also made it as a team. Kathy and Axelys made the basketball court, Onely and Manuela made the cars, and all of us were fixing the mini details of the city.
During this teamwork, Kathy learned that she can group the items to copy and paste them, she can lock the items that can make her easy to move some mini-items, changing the sizes and rotating by changing numbers, moving the items by changing snap grid, moving the camera to see if looking on the other side it can still be the same. Also, she can move the objects in different axes that were X-axe, Y-axe, and Z-axe. In addition, she noticed that she needed to develop cooperation. So, she started to communicate more with her teammates and developing cooperation. As the result, the work is amazing.
The second work was start on September 16, 2022. Each team was assigned to design a different object in Tinkercad and each member had to make them work individually. In such a situation, KAYSM TECH was assigned to design bicycle.
Thanks to the experience of her first project, this project was not very complicated for Kathy. However, she was confused about what type of bicycle she could make. At last, she decided to use her bicycle as the model. She used black as the principal color and dark red to support. She was making from the downside to the upside and later began to put the details. Such as the stars, her name and her group name.
This was her first individual work in robotic class. So, in this matter, the most precious thing she learnt about was observing everything carefully and specifically from different angle of view, every side to make as same as the model and to not make mistakes in her job. Additionally, it is the same in our real life. Just looking at one face, one angle of view, no one will find out the beautiful or grotesque side of the person, object, thing, scenery and the world. In her point of view, the final result is awesome, although the work did not look like the same as the model.
Their third job was long and difficult, that was programming movement. KAYSM TECH was assigned to use the star figure, using the codes and changing the axes to let the star move and it was an individually work.
The star must face the path where it is going to move and according to the demands of Mr. Reynoso. First, the star needs to go from the outside all the way to the inside, then, it goes up and goes down, later, goes from the inside all the way to the outside, up and down again, and after that, the star goes to the center again, goes up and going in a prismatic way, finally, goes down.
This was the most difficult work for Kathy. Because she must understand well all the demands of Mr. Reynoso, to calculate and to check various times to see if there is anything she did wrong. Also, every time she checked, she must see the whole process again, by the limit in Tinkercad. However, she learned a lot about programming and developed her brain through this work. She believes that this work practiced her patience and her attention.
Program a video game from Scratch was their fourth project and they made it together. This project started making on January 13th, 2023. And was presented on January 25th of 2023 with another project that was about the programming language, Scratch. Explained the information such as its founder, logo, the program and the benefits it brings. The users might program various things in it. For example, animation, games, studios and other things that the users wanted to program. The most important was the creativity of the users. This presentation was started prepared in December, 2022. As the outcome, their presentation received favourable comments.
Their game's name was Running Robots. It was a game where the robot must jump over the trucks to survive and to collect coins. It is based on Subway Surfers. The speed of the trucks was random, which could make the game more interesting. Sometimes it could be faster and sometimes it was slow. To jump, the player might press the space bar and press the bottom "P" to pause, and it would appear "Paused" on the screen and everything would be stopped. When pressed "P" bottom again, it would start moving again. The coins that the robot collected would be show on the left side of the player's screen. If the robot collided with the trucks, then the game was over and would jump out the screen of "Game Over". But there was a superpower that may help the robot to survive. This superpower had the shape of a boot, the robot would jump higher when it took this boot. Like the general games, this game had a menu, too. The background of the menu was the same as the original game background, in which, the static background of the night city and the grey ground. Also, the scrolling background, the dark green grass (which was reflecting the night time) and the moving trucks. The top side of the menu had their game's name, "RUNNING ROBOTS". The downside of the title had two bottoms, one was "PLAY" and the other one was "INFO", where the players might know the game was made by them and their Gmail. All the letters in this game used the "pixel" font. Those bottoms and the title of menu, the robot, the trucks, and the boot had the symbolized color of KAYSM TECH, which were purple and white. Also, the others color to support. Such as the black, pink, blue and yellow.
In Kathy's opinion, this project was interesting but also difficult. They found some tutorials videos to help them program. Because they never learned so much about programming. Even though it was in a group, they just worked on one device. Because this programming language couldn't update immediately while others were editing. Then, everyone would not see the codes that were made by others. In addition, they must switch two websites (one tutorial video and the other was Sratch) to work. As a consequence, the time it took to finish program the video game was longer. Therefore, they took another method to speed up the progress rate. Got together. Going one teammate's home, one would watch the video and say what the teammate should do, and another one would program. Those couldn't go to the teammate's home might join the Meet to be part of them. As the result, it was faster. She learned more profound about Scratch and programming. For example, in Scratch, she might use the "define" block to define a My Block. The blocks that were under the "define" block would run the corresponding My Block. In the game, she and her teammates used this technic to setup trucks. In which, the different trucks might have different customs, random speed, put clones of powerups on the trucks and let those trucks could run over the street.
