Cape Town, South Africa's "Day Zero" referred to the critical point where the city's municipal water supply was projected to run out completely due to a severe drought. This meant residents would likely have to queue for rations from centralized water collection points. While Day Zero was initially predicted for April 2018, the city was able to avert the crisis through aggressive water conservation measures and increased rainfall.Â
This committee will explore droughts world wide, discuss the economic impacts of climate change, and foster collaboration to prevent future damages.
