1979. Coventry, Britain. Frankie Duncan, a young vampire, makes a strange friend just moved to the U.K. from New York. Unknowingly, both of them stumble into an international plot to control the structure of space-time itself, woven together with an oddly-named portable discotheque and a truly awful independent ska band. The city is looking like a ghost town, the streets empty, no one else rising up to the challenge. Will Frankie and their new friends stand up for themselves, or will they succumb to the reddish haze of violence that masks the British atmosphere?
Street Feeling is a novel written by sp00k3t0ast. The title is a reference to the The Selecter song of the same name. It centers around themes of structure, consumerism, and human ignorance. In part, it is a response to the book From The Velvets To The Voidoids, which claims to be an alternative music retrospective and interview catalogue, its main point being that American punk music existed before British bands such as Sex Pistols popularized the genre. However, Velvets is not properly sourced and most of the information and interviews it contains are completely fabricated by the author. It makes for a great piece of unfiction, and Street Feeling is a wacky, silly version of what Velvets could have been, although it utilizes Britain as a lens through which the reader can then view The States.
