Sekolah Cikal Amri is a place where students from the Middle School (Year 7-9) and High School (Year 10-12) learn to be successful beyond schooling.
Sekolah Cikal Amri is accredited A for both Middle School (SMP) and High School (SMA) by Badan Akreditasi Nasional Sekolah/Madrasah (BAN S/M). Besides that, we are also authorized by the International Baccalaureate (IB). As a framework, we implement the IB Middle Years Programme for Year 9-10 and the IB Diploma Programme in Year 11-12.
In the Middle Years Programme (MYP), students’ learning journey is created as a challenging program that encourages students to be more assertive and critical in facing conceptual and real situation problems. Meanwhile, the Diploma Programme (DP) is aimed to expand students’ knowledge and understanding, to help them reflect on the nature of knowledge, and to complete independent research and undertake projects that involve community service as well.
Sekolah Cikal Amri perceives that IB MYP and DP are in line with Sekolah Cikal vision and mission. The IB learner profile as the targeted profile to be built within each individual goes hand in hand and supports the Cikal 5 star dimensions, the targeted dimension competencies built within each Cikal community member.
Cikal 5Cs, the ways used to achieve the student’s goals in building their dimension competencies, are in synch with the IB approaches to learning. The implementation of both, 5Cs and ATL skills, enrich the student’s skills and competencies as an individual who is prepared to be ready in competing and taking part in the development and advancement of the world around them.
You will find a comfortable environment within the school as Sekolah Cikal Amri prefers to be close to nature. It is also a supportive learning environment that aims to build the spirit of lifelong learners in every student. You can always see students discussing learning topics and interesting matters in many places, including the canteen.

The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (IB MYP) is one of the program continuums in the IB curriculum. The International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) states that The MYP has been designed as a coherent and comprehensive curriculum framework that provides academic challenge and develops the life skills of students from the ages of 11 to 16. The MYP offers students opportunities to develop their potential, to explore their own learning preferences, to take appropriate risks, and to reflect on and develop a strong sense of personal identity (IBO, 3).
Through the lens of inquiry-based learning and teacher’s approaches to teaching, students developed their Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills, which cover research skills, self-management skills, thinking skills, communication skills, and social skills, within the subject domains. The MYP believes that assessment is an integral part of learning. To make sure that students are assessed for their progress in developing the ATL skills proportionally, the MYP uses a criterion-based assessment and each subject has 4 criteria of assessment.
In Sekolah Cikal Amri, for the academic year of 2020-2021, the IB MYP Curriculum framework is implemented for Year 8 to Year 10 students. Programs delivered using the MYP curriculum framework are:
Arts (Music, Visual Arts, Drama, Media)
Design
Individuals and Societies
English Acquisition and English Literature
Indonesian Acquisition and Indonesian Literature
Mathematics
Mathematics Standard and Mathematics Extended (for Year 9 and Year 10)
Physical and Health Education
Sciences
Personal Project (for Year 10)
As MYP students, Year 10 students have to carry out a culminating project, called Personal Project, within the periods of 6 - 7 months, from Term 1 to Term 3. Based on their personal interest, each student formulates a project goal that benefits himself/herself and the communities. The product/outcome created should become a proof that the student has implemented the 5 ATL skills throughout the completion of the personal project. The students’ personal project reports are sent to the IB office to be assessed and moderated directly by the IB examiner team. Students will receive the MYP certificate of completion from the IB once the assessment procedure is completed.
The Diploma Program is a rigorous program of academic study that prepares students for the challenge of higher education. It aims to create lifelong learners through developing the IB Learner profile characteristics. The IB Diploma Program comprises six academic subjects and the IB Core. IB Diploma Program aims to produce a knowledgeable, creative, critical thinker who is willing to take risks with their studies.
The IB Diploma requires students to study six subjects in addition to completing the theory of knowledge course, the extended essay and CAS. Each subject is either studied at standard level (SL) or in greater depth at a higher level (HL). Students need to pick three subjects at SL and three subjects at HL or the combination of four subjects at HL and two subjects at SL.
Sekolah Cikal Amri offers the following subjects:
Group 1: Language and Literature (Indonesian and English)
Group 2: Language Acquisition (Indonesian and English)
Group 3: Social Studies (Business Management, History, Economics, Psychology, Social and Cultural Anthropology)
Group 4: Experimental Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics)
Group 5: Mathematics (Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches, Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation)
Group 6: The Arts (Film, Music, Visual Arts)
Alongside the curriculum, the Diploma Programme Core includes an extended essay which is a chance for the student to specialise in an area of interest to themselves, TOK – Theory of Knowledge where students get a chance to reflect on the nature of knowledge, and on how they know what they claim to know.
The Diploma Program education is a holistic experience and caters for this by including the CAS programme – Creativity, Activity and Service. In CAS, students have opportunities to enhance their personal and interpersonal development by learning through experience. It provides opportunities for the students to develop self-determination and collaboration with others, fostering a sense of accomplishment and enjoyment from their work. At the same time, CAS is an important counterbalance to the academic pressures of the DP.
The Diploma Programme is a course of study that is recognised by university admissions departments as a rigorous and demanding education programme that prepares students for studying at degree level.
