Our Year 5 PYP Exhibition is under the HOW THE WORLD WORKS transdisciplinary theme. It is a theme that we have never done before as PYP exhibition, but we are all excited to experience the journey. We have science explorations and exposure together with the classroom teachers as tuning in. One of them is the field trip to Museum IPTEK in Taman Mini. Many scientific engagements displayed in the museum, and students were all excited to see the amazing Tesla Coil and other scientific.
The person whom we can learn about science, of course, a scientist. We met experts that invent some creative and amazing tools to help people. The photos are in HERE.
Science, is everywhere, even in arts. So we explore the magic of science through art. Here are the video of what we have learned in science exploration through art.
How to think like an engineer? One must possesed an empathy. This is what we do:
Learners are asked to draw a face on an egg and are given the following directions: “Pretend the egg is alive – has thoughts, feelings, and opinions. Your job is to use the straws to create a protective covering for the egg so it will not crack when dropped from a 10 foot height. Address the following questions prior to building your egg structure:
What do you think your egg is feeling about his or her upcoming drop?
What do you need to make your egg’s journey less stressful?
What can you do to reassure your egg that everything will work out okay?
What forces do you need to consider in order to keep your egg safe? Consider gravity, rate of descent, impact.
