AKIO
It's important to me because I had some experiences with this topic, and I don’t want anyone else to experience this a lot. This is also important to me because this could really affect another person’s mental health in different ways. It could also affect their physical health by doing bad things to their body after it affected their mental health.
FREYA
It is important to me because I want to share awareness especially to girls around the social media that even if the boys tell them what to do, it doesn’t mean they should follow what they say, either if it’s fine with you or you feel uncomfortable you should not let them change who you are so you can fit in on their rules.
JIA
This is important because I need to spread awareness about stopping gender stereotypes because some people are not as open-minded as others, especially old people because they are usually more traditional.
ARABELLE
Because gender-based harassment harms individuals and may cause direct effect to their mental health.
SHAKIRA
This goal is important to me because I want people to be more confident and open-minded about their body, no matter what their body shape is.
AKIO
By the end of March, I will survey my Y6 schoolmates. And the end of April, I will have an idea of my product.
FREYA
I will start my research at the end of February. By mid April I will reach my goal.
JIA
March week 3: I make a conclusion from my survey.
End of March: I will start to decide the final product.
April: 70-90% of findings and end product design.
ARABELLE
I will start researching and surveying
family and friends in the first week of March. As soon as I get my survey results, I will start collecting the data and put them all in the presentation along with the research I’ve collected.
SHAKIRA
End of February: I will start my research. By beginning of March: I will at least find people being unconfident/uncomfortable with their body and why they’re uncomfortable
March: I will find out how some people cope with body shaming
In the start of April I will finish my research and by mid April I will have the idea of my product.
The initial step that the students did in the PYP journey is finding out. In this process they brainstormed issues of gender equality.

After brainstorming the issues of gender equality, each of the student chose a focused issue that they would explore.

On March 10, 2022, the students had the opportunity to learn from a guest speaker. Miss Dwi Faiz (Head of Programme UN WOMEN) shared insightful information about gender quality in Indonesia and in the world.
On April 21-22, 2022, Freya & Jia held online campaigns to Y7 Cikal Lebak Bulus students. The campaigns aimed to raise the awareness of gender stereotyping and how to overcome the problem.
Freya created a quiz about gender stereotypes. She and Jia asked Y7 students to take it after their campaigns.
Result: 50 Y7 students and 3 homeroom teachers of Cikal Lebak Bulus attended the campaigns.
As the continuation of their campaign, Jia created a website to spread the awareness of gender equality issues. You can find news about gender equality issues or cases in Indonesia, play a quiz, and order merchandises (bookmarks, stickers, tote bags) that are designed by Freya.
Shakira conducted online campaigns to Y5 students of Cikal Lebak Bulus to raise the awareness of body shaming. The campaigns were held on April 25 & 27, 2022.
Shakira created a quiz about body shaming and asked Y5 students to take it. 54 students played the quiz.
Result: 61 Y5 students attended the campaigns. Many also participated in sharing their body shaming experiences through chat box or speaking.
Moreover, slogans of body positivity that are printed on tote bags will spread the message of body positivity to wider communities. These slogans are designed by Shakira.
