Oscar Palmas is a benchmark of Mexican geometry. His influence goes beyond his multiple contributions to research. His books, classes, talks and even hallway conversations have served to motivate and promote geometry in all of us, from the youngest to the most established.
Dr. Oscar Palmas is a full professor in the Mathematics Department of the Faculty of Sciences of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where he also completed his bachelor's, master's and doctoral studies.
He has developed teaching, research and dissemination activities that revolve around geometry, focusing his research on Differential Geometry, and more specifically on the Geometry of Subvarieties, Geometric Analysis and Metric Geometry.
He is a member of the National System of Researchers (SNI) and has more than 30 publications in specialized journals. He has supervised several doctoral theses and innumerable undergraduate theses.
