Since 2014, the workshop "Modern Techniques in Riemannian Geometry" has been developed, in order for students of mathematics and related careers to have contact with academics from various institutions in the world and attract them to first-level lines of research in differential geometry. and actuality.

On this occasion it will be held in honor of Dr. Oscar Palmas, for his 60th anniversary and it is a joint effort between the Faculty of Sciences of the UNAM and the Faculty of Mathematics of the Autonomous University of Yucatan (UADY), where the workshop merges with the annual Colloquium of Geometry of the Faculty of Mathematics of the UADY, in its eighteenth edition. The UADY Geometry Colloquium arose in January 2004 in order to create a space where students and professors of mathematics, physics and related areas could come into contact with select topics in the field of geometry; especially with those in which the Mexican mathematical community is actively involved.

The workshop and Colloquium will be held from November 21 to 24, 2022, in a hybrid way, at the facilities of the UADY Faculty of Mathematics, in Mérida, Yucatán, and transmitted by Zoom, and will feature specialists from the Faculty of Sciences and the Institute of Mathematics of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), as well as specialists of the Faculty of Mathematics of the Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán (UADY), the Department of Mathematics of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM), University of Sao Paulo (USP), University of Murcia, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Federal University of San Carlos (UFSCar), Insitute of Mathematics (UNAM-Juriquilla), Institute of Mathematics (UNAM-Oaxaca) and Durham University.
