PE in EYFS

Children's physical development is at the heart of the curriculum in EYFS- we are very fortunate to have a beautiful outdoor space at Churchfield and this is utlised daily by our wonderful EYFS team. PE is also taught discreetly on a weekly basis- please see the progression  of skills and knowledge document below which underpins the learning objectives of discreet PE sessions and the physical development opportunities planned for in daily play.

How to help your child at home

Children need to be active for at least 60 minutes a day.  See below for links on how to keep your child active - we particularly recommend the Change4Life website, which has lots of superhero and Disney character related activities, which children find really engaging.

We also highly recommend that children regularly visit parks and playgrounds - climbing, crawling, rolling, running etc. is vital to children's physical development,  but also to their emotional and academic development.

Physical Development Opportunities in EYFS:

The children develop their teamwork skills by working together to build in our construction areas.

The children enjoy turn taking games with the parachute.

The children work together to draw around each other's shadows. They needed to listen to each other's instructions carefully.
