Thanin (aka George) received a PhD in Genetics, Genomics and Bioinformatics from the University of California, Riverside in 2018. His dissertation focused on illuminating the role of the Arabidopsis DHH1/DDX6-like RNA helicase family in mRNA metabolisms and plant growth-defense balance. Thanin returned to Thailand in 2020, and he is currently an assistant professor at the Department of Botany of Chulalongkorn University.
Phanomsak (Tak) earned his MSc in Genetics from Chulalongkorn University in 2022, where he conducted research on marker-assisted selection for enhancing antioxidant traits in rice. Following a year of experience in the agro-biotechnology industry, his passion for academic research led him to pursue a PhD in Biotechnology, which he began in January 2024 with support from the C2F scholarship. His doctoral research focuses on uncovering the genetic basis of flood escape strategies in Thai rice varieties.
Supakit (Ikkil) is a recipient of the Development and Promotion of Science and Technology Talents Project (DPST) Scholarship with a BSc in Biology from Silpakorn University. He joined the group in August 2023 as a master’s student in the Genetics program. His thesis research focuses on elucidating the genetic basis of submergence tolerance in mutagenized lines of Thai rice.
Monnaphon (Bee) started with us in January 2025. Her project involves characterization of flood-tolerant rice lines in Supanburi 1 genetic background.
Our Proud Alumni
Matchima (Yai) joined the group in August 2024. Her project is focussing on the evolutionary aspect of floral bud induction in Dendrobium orchids.
Phattharaphon (Putter) joined the group in April 2024. Together with Kulisara, Phattharaphon is trying to uncouple developmental defects of the Arabidopsis ddx6 (rh6812) mutant from the impairment in cytoplasmic mRNA decay.
Kulisara (Beem) joined the group in April 2024. Her project aims to uncouple developmental defects of the Arabidopsis ddx6 (rh6812) mutant from the impairment in cytoplasmic mRNA decay.
Thammaporn (Noinha) earned a PhD in Biotechnology from Chulalongkorn University in 2022 and joined the group with Chula's postdoctoral scholarship (Ratchadapiseksomphot Endowment Fund) to explore the links between changes in microbial composition and growth promotion of rice by chitin-based compounds with the groups of Dr. Nuttapon Pombubpa (Chula Microbiology) and Dr. Supachitra Chadchawan (Chula Botany). From November 2023, Thammaporn continued with us to study the physiological and genetic control of submergence tolerance in Thai rice under the C2F postdoctoral fellowship program.
Pattarayuth (aka Japan) joined the group in summer 2022. He genetically rescued developmental defects of the Arabidopsis ddx6 (rh6812) mutant.
Chokanan (aka Tiger) joined the group in April 2021 as a junior student at the Botany Department. His project involved screening and physiological studies of flooding-tolerant Thai rice.
Kritsadaporn (aka Nene) joined the group in April 2021 as a junior student at the Botany Department. She performed genome-wide association studies of anaerobic germination tolerance traits in a Thai rice population.
