Français 5/AP

Students enrolled in AP French must attend 3 additional lunchtime sessions during the 8 day cycle; they must take the AP French language and culture exam in May.

French 5/AP French represent the second in a two-course sequence of "pre-advanced" (Checkpoint C) level courses. The goal of these courses is to turn students into beginning "storytellers" within the target culture: they will start to engage in conversation in a more "participatory" manner, discussing topics of both personal and community interest across the major time frames (past, present and future).

Checkpoint C level courses are conducted entirely in the target language, and students are expected to use the target language for all classroom interactions. Because the most important factor in language learning is the amount of practice a student has, students are encouraged to say or write as much as possible for each activity or assignment.
