Français 3

Language Learning is first about acquiring verbal habits: students will begin by learning a repertoire of familiar utterances and they will then learn to recombine and develop these to create a more personal message. This process is called learning to "create with language."

Language Learning is not a spectator sport: you have to *speak* in order to learn to speak another language. Students are encouraged to use the target language whenever possible, and to write or say as much as possible for each activity or assignment.

French 3 is the second in a two-course sequence of "intermediate" (Checkpoint B) level courses. The goal of these courses is to help students become functional "survivors" within the target culture: they will be able to handle a variety of predictable, concrete and straightforward communicative tasks necessary for successfully getting along in the target culture.

Student will take a proficiency-based final (Regents) exam at the end of this course.
