THE MENTOR

• Provides guidance in developing initial student plans
• Oversees deadlines
• Responds to and grades student journal
• Monitors student research
• Coaches student for final presentation
• Serves as a non-grading member of the presentation audience
• Maintains correspondence with CHOOSE coordinators

• Does not generate topics
• Is not necessarily an expert in the student’s field of choice
• Is not a grader of the presentation
• Is not responsible for finding the experts and arranging the internship
• Is not solely responsible for keeping the student on course
